As this year’s Eurovision Song Contest draws closer, participants are cramming in promo gigs — both at home and abroad. Earlier this week Zoë, Austria’s Eurovision 2016 starlet, performed her song “Loin d’ici” on the Austrian version of Dancing with the Stars. The show, hosted by Eurovision 2015 co-host Mirjam Weichselbraun, saw Zoë rocking a new outfit with some updated staging. She’s not resting on her laurels — she is turning up the heat and setting them on fire!

ZOË – “LOIN D’ICI” LIVE ON DANCING WITH THE STARS AUSTRIA

Those of you who dislike Barbie’s doll house will be pleased to know that Zoë is busy toning it down ahead of Stockholm.

During her interview with wiwibloggs at Eurovision in Concert in Amsterdam, she alluded that her staging at Eurovision will be far less pink than her show in the Austrian national final, Wer singt für Österreich.

Does this performance give away any clues?

The staging begins with a night sky, much like the one in her official video. There’s some interaction between Zoë and the elements on the LED screen behind her. The entire performance is definitely less magenta, but Zoë still shines — and, yes, she is still burning calories on that treadmill!

Who says paradise is warm? Toward the end of the performance we see some new snowfall, which adds to the ambience. Inevitably, pieces of the snow confetti end up in her mouth — but that doesn’t faze Zoë in the slightest. Professional!

Zoë also donned a new frock. It’s a little more casual but still manages ooze elegance and femininity — just like the singer herself.

In her post-performance interview with Mirjam and the other host, Klaus Eberhartinger, Zoë reflected on her Eurovision journey so far, particularly with the overwhelming response to her performance at Eurovision in Concert in Amsterdam and at Israel Calling in Tel Aviv.

She said: “It is unbelievable what the public there does and what kind of energy they give an artist. It’s something that I’ve never experienced before.”

She is so amazing and sweet, even if she get stuff in her mouth 😀
She should watch out from the “Loreen syndrome” 🙂

I always imagined this song as taking place under a bright blue sky with fluffy clouds, in a bright green field with yellow and white flowers. I think it fits the cheery tone more but this is still good 🙂

This is one of my favorite songs of the semi. It is very charming and lovely. I think it will pass because it has a different feel then anything else in the competition.

It’s nice but little bit dull. Wiwibloggs you should cover Nina’s performance in The Voice of Croatia. 🙂

I love it!
But in this killer semi 1 it still will be very tough. Every vote will count. Hopefully she will make it to the finals and then top 15 …

She really needs to work on the melody of the song at the end… it becomes really boring and I dread people will disconnect from her performance because nothing really happens, vocally or stagewise

Oh that choreography really does work well. A colder paradise is perfect for the song, yes! Thanks so much to everyone involved. 🙂
A small complaint would be that this wasn’t Zoe’s best vocal, but she’s still enchanting anyhow. It was also good to see her in the interview at the end talking about how she enjoyed the European tour – great to see. Best of luck to Zoe in a very tough semi final. x

Read more »

I am scared that Zoe will be the Kate Ryan/Evridiki of this year’s show.

She deserves to qualify, please vote for her!

I loved the staging in the national show, but it depends on how it looks on the stage in Stockholm.

I’m still hoping that this qualifies, but I know it’s almost impossible 🙁

It’s seems better than NF performance, but I would actually loved her to have a staging similar to Wiktoria in Melodifestivallen. Just imagine – a massive Cinderella-esque/bridal gown with all those butterflies, flowers and everything projected directly on her dress? Magical!

That authentic natural way makes her charme. Not forcing, just being. Best way to escape. Dark horse qualities, coz she loves to catch the spectators. In my top 10. Pity I can´t vote for here as living in Austria.

I hope this was before the dancing. All those little bits of snow-confetti on the floor being slipping hazards- it’d have been the greatest episode of Dancing With the Stars ever.

In seriousness though- loved it. Zoe is utterly charming in the delivery, and the muted, more subtle coloring still brings out the fantasy elements of the performance without making eyes bleed. It should look utterly spectacular on the full stage in Stockholm.

Wow, this is so beautiful! For me Austria really is a dark horse, she and the song are easy to be remembered. Zoë ????

OGAE Germany has Zoe in the lead right now. So this would mean 12 points in the OGAE voting… 🙂

She had a snowflake in her mouth. The snowflakes are a good idea for Eurovision, but she should look out for the snowflags.

I’ve been watching various preview-shows around Europe where same kind of people as in the real juries talk about the entries and give points, and to my surprise this have done really well. Maybe it could get some points from the jury aswell!

I think this gives us a massive clue about the staging in Stockholm. I can imagine Austria doing the same in the Globen, including the snowfall.
It looked great.

@ Osterrike

Zoe had the crowd going nuts and giving her standing ovations in every pre-Eurovision party she attended. She is a real dark horse!

How nice she went to Dancing with the stars to showcase her song just like Conchita two years ago 🙂

Zoe slayed in London. The crowd went nuts for her song and sang along. Zoe melted and gave an encore. No word about that here.:(
