More than a month ago we started digging into the back catalogues of the Eurovision 2016 artists. We came across reggae and pop and every genre in between, and pulled out the best gems for Alternative Eurovision — our search for the best other song from a Eurovision act.  After counting 4,255 votes, we can now reveal that our queen of Alternative Eurovision 2016 is Australia‘s Dami Im! Her crystal clear vocals, seductive banjo, and bucket loads of Korean skyline realness earned her 2014 single “Super Love” 306 votes — just enough to steal the victory from our runner up.

Spain‘s Barei finished a mere 12 points behind Dami. She first sang her summer hit “Play” in 2012, but the buzz she caused on the streets of her hometown Madrid still has our readers clapping.

And rounding our our top three is Croatia‘s ethno-princess Nina Kraljic with her début single “Zaljuljali Smo Svijet”.

What do you think – did the right song win? Would Dami be doing better in our favourites poll if she was singing something a bit more upbeat? Did Rykka chose the wrong song for Eurovision? Let us know in the comments below!

Super Love is that awesome anthem that makes you feel good and happy, and can dance to. My bet it would have won Eurovision if it was a new song entry.

”Super Love” is so much better than that beige, or I should say grey piece of uninspired music that is ”Sound of Silence” … the right singer with the wrong song, that’s a shame
