Dami Im showed why she’s one of the bookies’ favourites, giving more flawless vocal performances at the second rehearsal of her song “Sound of Silence”.

The Australian star ran through her song three times, working on coordinating her movements with the projected graphics, which she manipulates with her hands, Minority Report style.

The performance has largely stayed the same since her first rehearsal, with Dami starting off atop a box, only this time the box is no longer bathed in blue light, instead going natural with its sparkling silver tones.

Even though it was just a rehearsal, Dami didn’t let that stop her giving a powerful vocal performance, inspiring applause in the press room.

Guys…
2012: an up-tempo dance song won
2013: a mid-tempo break-up song won
2014: a diva moment with flames won
======
2015: an up-tepmo dance song won
2016: should be a mid-tempo break-up song… DAMI YOU WON!

They need to bring the dancer in the video in. Aloof, unattainable, separated by miles and a wall of indifference. That’s the concept they should follow for the staging. For me, best song, best performer, Australia is VERY welcome to ESC, they make it better.

Sorry to hate guys, but I don’t get what’s so interesting about sitting on a box for 2 minutes. I’d rather have her doing the performance standing on stage.
I sincerely hope this stays away from the top 5 as this is not where it belongs.

Rehearsal means rehearsal.
People vote them in actual show, not based on rehearsal.
Dami lack in movement or in staging act, but we found a huge progress in the way she sing that repetitive – some says borring – song.
Dami is still in my pick list for the winner.

Does anybody know where we can get a full version of the first rehearsal with the key change?

Still not impressed. A strong entry overall, but it is probably out of the run for the win. No emotions, and becomes annoyingly repetitve.

After watching the full live performance, I think it’s not just the repetitive nature of the chorus that motors the changes but also the intention to make the song as endearing as possible to the audience. The change in the bridge sounds so good.

This is for Eugene and others probably . I do hope that’s your own criteria you go after. Fact is no one can give score based on jury criteria. Unless you are a member of the jury yourself, and then you shouldn’t be here posting. maybe ask to be a jury member? I would:) it sounds like fun to be honest. Sitting there and and voting or whatever they do.For opinionated people like Eugene and me this would be a very fun method. Though a bit lonely admitted. Anyway, Fact is no one will know how these 5 members will… Read more »

and for yall who don’t understand the stage ,first learn about the lyrics or the meaning of sound of silence…dami is the sound from the silence and the stage looks perfect in that way! be away from pp that mean something to u and u feel lonely. and sometimes vulnerable, she is lonely in that beautiful box and so fragile singing..also on tv i am sure all the world can see the olograms..also about the meaning of the song…and her heart start to betting fast and fast, she is down from the box and sing and express herself how she feel through… Read more »

this is not the final thing guys lol, dami is working in her moves angles for the camera..but also she change the notes because with her team they look at the video from the first rehearsal then see which good it’s better and looks good on tv, THIS IS REHEARSAL is not the final performance ,she is doing what she has to do to do good! you also should post the second run …

They should do the key change of second verse like the first rehearsal….They said at the press conference they tend to follow the studio version. What are they thinking ???The key change and the multiple high notes are the reasons why the first rehearsal stands out but not this time.

Slayed the singing, but what is with that box? Sort it out and Dami has a finger on the trophy.

Agree Harris! What is more! Very few countries are not using botanical gardens, flowers, stars, constellations or blue or red leds. Those who perform something different and not so technological might win.

No matter what place she gets, she has the best voice this year. Maybe one of the five best vocalists ever at eurovision.

did i read ‘no big notes’ in a comment? omg 🙂

great voice, clumsy staging with the roadies dragging her of that box. they need two dancers to elegantly lift her 🙂

What gives with that box!? Does it signify Ayers Rock or something? Perching her on there looks like she’s just sprung out of it. It adds nothing. Nice song, great vocals…woeful staging.

She looks like a mob bride from 1980s who run from her on wedding… I expected more from her. Maybe lurking from the smoke and singing… Just like in her video. And I didn’t think she would wear a dress. Maybe some high waist pants or something like that…

I’m a big Dami fan. But this could be significantly improved (even though it is an arena recording rather than a fully TV mixed recording). Firstly they need to either get rid of the guys lifting Dami off the box, get rid of the box or get some steps for it. That was just messy and she nearly lost her microphone. If Dami needed someone to lift her off the box they should have let Andrew Crawford from Sydney Dance Company remain in the final shoot and choreographed it in. The backing vocals are also drowning out the lead. They… Read more »

IDK why this is getting so much praise from the Wiwiblogg people. The staging is a terrible concept, doesn’t build with a momentum of the song. And its idiocy to have to rely on the stage crew to transition from the box to the stage. The dress is fabulous and Dami’s vocal slays, but the overall presentation is lacking. She should qualify, but she better not pick up any viruses between now Tuesday, as only her vocal will get her in.

Much moaning in here…as usual.
Yes, it was a bit static and God knows who will bring her down from that box on Saturday.
With that said – the best singer this year, one of the best songs and she will end up in the top next Saturday. For sure!

Puff! More blue. Boring and repetitive. Dont really like her performance. Hope she doesnt step on the dress! Great voice anyway and I really like her. But…. many buts which doesnt make it different from many others.

The performance is pretty static relying solely on the song and her voice to maintain interest. As we already know, there is not a lot of diversity in the song and whilst there is nothing too much wrong with her voice in this rehearsal, the lack of a really big note is a problem.
Nothing I have seen or heard so far makes this a top five for me.

If I had to describe this song with one word It would be … FLAT !!!
Technically an amazing vocalist but she just comes of very robotic and lacks actual emotion …. The glittery box on stage seems kinda cheap, whenever I see that type of prop I always go back to Cascada’s stairs in 2013 and we all know how that went ……..
The only person that managed to pull of glitter props and make them look classy was Austria back in 2011 with Naidine.
