@sonic0201: I saw Jüri Pootsmann’s performance just a bit differently. While Elina and Stig’s performance was far more retro (late-1960s), Jüri’s was a mashup between early-1970s and mid-1980s style, and he was more laid-back. I ranked him 7th for his performance last week. I guess using the same formula twice doesn’t always work, by evidence of his place in the semis, below even Greece, Finland, Montenegro and San Marino.

In the jury voting, Belgium could beat Ukraine in the second semifinal but then Ukraine in the final got 100 points over Belgium. This is so awkward. Juries always do weird moves, they need to go becuase it seems they are not professional at all. Sadly, once again this shows that the running order matters, so it’s unfair for some countries: Belgium would do much better performing latter, same for Australia (I hate this entry) or Sweden which is the real winner beating everybody on itunes, Spotify and sells. It’s hard to believe that Ukraine, Russia, even Poland and Bulgaria… Read more »

Can’t believe Belgium qualified over Norway and Belarus… A blunder if I ever saw one. Damn. I guess I’m the odd one out on this one, though I didn’t see anyone place Belgium as a top five qualifier , much less actually being in the grand final.

Personally I’m fine with the result, I’m ok with Jamala or Dami or Sergey win cos I love them all the same. The only thing I can not accept is Ireland have Australia 0 point in jury vote. Seriously? Your lawl entry “Manband* Nicky never stood a chance and you drunks took piss at Dami for that? Backstabing sob.

Should’ve always been Russia VS Australia the whole way, if it final wasn’t close to May 18, marking 72th anniversary for 1944 deportation…

Lowering the power of the jury would mean that songs like Poland this year actually being able to win due to a strong diaspora.
I actually don’t have anything against Poland as a country it’s a beautiful place with so much culture but I would like a song that’s not so cliche to give them their first win.
I can name 30+ from this year that deserved those 222 televotes more than Poland.

Jamala`s song is very good but in my opinion Ukraine shouldn`t win. 1944 has a political context, it`s a breaking rules of Eurovision. Sorry, Jamala is a great artist and interesting song but we shouldn`t break rules.

Aga, the reason Poland got 7 points is because the song was painfully out-dated and shouldn’t have qualified at all…it wouldn’t have a million times over if it weren’t for diaspora. People can say that’s not true all they want but it’s obvious.

If we want ESC to be a contest just about the songs, a few things have to change: 1. Ban the use of holograms or other extensive uses of technology, just have a colorful background and perform your SONG. (Sofi Marinova-style) 2. The jury should have less power and way more people should be in it(!). 3. We shouldn’t be voting for a country, but for an artist and its song, now at the beginning you see in giant letters the name of the country and in a small font the artist, but it should be the other way around,… Read more »

The bookies correctly indicated Estonia to fail, it always had very high odds.

Lots of people say Juri Pootsmann’s stage presence came across as creepy, rather than charming. Plus there was too little contrast from the previous Estonian entry, and ESC doesn’t like that. The composer happens to be the same, Stig Rasta, and both Goodby to Yesterday and Play are oldschool/James Bond style music, with a man wearing a suit.

As a Pole I need to say that I’m sooo pissed off about jury voting. I know we have a lot of people in Poland who always choose bad singers or stupid song like Donatan’s & Cleo. It was actually so sad to see yesterday at Mans and Petra’s “Peace & Love” song a “polish girl” who was meant to be a girl from “My Slowianie” because that’s how Europe see us. Thank to our dumb politics… But now, when we finally have a great man with amazing clear voice… What we’ve got? 7 fu****g points. I could understand that… Read more »

Looking at the results, I am so gutted for Iceland, Estonia, Belarus and Moldova in that order. These songs should have entered into the finals. I mean how did Iceland and Estonia did so bad is beyond me. Iceland’s entry is like a ready-made winner song for me. The performance (both the vocals/visuals) are flawless. Don’t know what went wrong there. Belarus’ entry was definitely great, the theme and visuals were definitely done right, it has definitely helped the song to be more enjoyable. I knew Ireland, Switzerland and Denmark would not qualify coz either the vocals were average or… Read more »

Are you kidding me? Ukraine won fair and square and they desreved it! Your petition is not gonna do anything, the results won’t change. Either you like it or not, Ukraine is the winner! You and some others need to face reality! The EBU shouldn’t listen to your nonsense.

Jamala don’t deserve to win, I mean she has got great vocals, but sereously. Her song is political. I don’t want to listen about murder everytime when I put my headphones on.

The best song won!!! To all the haters of 1944, Jamala and Ukraine stop coming with the same old boring excuse about politics. Politics no Politics, THE BEST SONG WON. But the huge gap from jury voting between Australia and Ukraine. WTF?!? I don’t get it. It is ridiculous. Sound of Silence is a good average pop song elevated by the amazing Dami. 1944, on the other hand, is a masterpiece: the sleek timeless production, the voice, the staging, the full package. On a positive note Russia got the treatment it deserved. No staging could save the hollowness that is… Read more »

ALBANIA The number of suspicious incidents related to the jury voting has increased dramatically this year. Albanian jury members Flamur Shehu and Nisida Tufa have voted in a similar way awarding top 11 points to the same entries with 4-11 places being exactly the same countries which is statistically impossible. Both jury members have awarded 1-3 places to France, Australia and Italy, 4th place to Spain, 5th place to Malta, 6th place to Bulgaria, 7th place to Russia, 8th place to Ukraine, 9th place to Hungary, 10th place to the United Kingdom and 11th Azerbaijan. The contest is for people. There is a huge difference between national juries and televoting. Russia won televoting. This is people’s, european’s choice.

So strange juries’ unreasonable voting to Australia. I am not big specialist in music. But I tried to find the worthy points in Austalia’s song. It was not better than many of others like Russia, Ukraine, Israel, Azerbayjan or Poland.

I don’t like the result.
Jamala is good, melody was nice but her satirical political sad song just…. errrgggghh.

I just like to say that Australia was the best among jurors and Russia was favorite amongs televoter.

Estonia last?! I hope that’s a misprint. And the 2 least favourites San Marino and Montenegro weren’t even in the bottom 5 in their semi… Let alone the whole contest. My country Ireland flopped but ah well. I’m so sad with Switzerland coming last too.

I really hope Australia dumps the idea of attending the contest in the future…
Those countries just voted for each other due to politics relations and some just hate the idea of Australia in the competition(EVEN Graham Norton stated that point) That is, Australia will never win the contest and I don’t think Australia will find someone incredible like Dami Im again to compete.

The truth is, that Europeans love each other really a lot. 12 points from Ukraine to Russia, 10 points from Russia to Ukraine. Still, politics want to play identity games with us and upset us, make us turn on each other. F the EBU!

I am sad seeing the result of Estonia. Juri was AWESEOME and this is still my winner of 2016. How this beautiful song managed to score less than bad songs from Finland, Montenegro, San Marino and Bosnia, I will never know. Also, something is very off when the whole stadium starts cheering a song that ended-up 14’th (Iceland) over a song that ended-up third (Malta). Iceland was much better! These results are sadly a proof that quality and quantity are two different things. Greta and Juri, if you are reading this by any chance, know that you were fantastic, and… Read more »

I am beyond shocked and furious. My favourite song, Iceland placed 14th in her semi with 51 POINTS. She got less points than the narcasistic Montenegrin rock group who had a terrible song (60 POINTS) and the San Marinise person who couldn’t even do disco and who also had a terrible song (68 POINTS). This song was a masterpiece and was pissed when it didn’t make the final (and I am still pissed). WHY EUROPE!?!? WHAT WERE YOU VOTING ON?!?!?!

I just wonder. How could Armenia come 2nd in semi-final and 7th in grand final rather than Bulgaria came 5th in semi-final and placed 4? How could Russia win semi-final 1, televote and come 3rd? Australia won 2nd semi-final and jury votes. How could Ukraine win? Meh, to be honest jury voting didn’t make sense. “Favorite” countries underrated other favorite songs for keep their chances! Anyway it is funny that tatar-crimean girl, who was representing Ukraine, whose mother is Armenian and comes from Nagorno-Karabakh Republic has won))) just a fact!

Well Australia did better than I thought it would! I wasn’t expecting 2nd…although I really wanted it to be first! I can just imagine if Australia won how overjoyed we would be here. I know sound bias lol but the idea is exciting! I don’t think they’d host in Australia primarily due to the time difference…but hopefully they could have arranged a concert here perhaps with some of the artists. Or have the semi finals in Europe, final in Australia but it probably would be too hard with the time difference and cost. But it was soo close! I was… Read more »

I thought Estonia finished at least 12th and missed out by a few points, but they came 42nd overall! After last year’s seventh place, that must suck. Well, at least Switzerland beat someone.

The fact that Albania and San Marino beat out better entries is really depressing.
