On May 11, wiwibloggs hosted our very own Eurovision party — The Wiwi Jam — at the Hard Rock Café in Stockholm. Eurovision stars of yesterday and today arrived in style, walking our red carpet before taking to the iconic stage —  which has hosted acts including The Jackson Five and Alice Cooper. The music flowed and the drinks slipped down easy. We could really feel the love!

One of the first acts we reached out to this year was the Iberian goddess Suzy, who jumped on our radar back in 2014, when she missed the finals in Copenhagen by just one point with her Eurovision hit “Quero ser tua”. ESC fans now religiously chant the song at every Eurovision club night from Milan to Moscow. So we were more than thrilled when she agreed to come throw down with us.

wiwiblogger Denise managed to snatch Suzy for a short interview on the red carpet — before the crowds descended on her like flies to a honey pot.

Is she bitter about missing out on the final back in 2014?

“No! Actually people thought it was real awkward for me not feeling sad, but I have a good explanation for that. I received so much support and so much love from the Eurovision fans, that I thought it was just a passage. Just a step for something better and greater and I’m so blessed, that after two years I still continue to perform for fans, so I’m really grateful. So I wasn’t upset at all, because in terms of the voting, I had very good classification!”

Portugal is one of the few countries left in Eurovision, that still remain faithful to the contest’s original concept: to sing in your own language and introduce your musical traditions to the rest of the continent. Does Suzy feel that it’s important to hang on to one’s roots?

“In a way, I think its very important, because when Eurovision started, everybody sang in their own native language, and I think that was the goal. For them to show their culture, the sounds from their country — and we want to bring that”.

At the #WiwiJam Suzy didn’t settle for singing just her signature tune.

She also paid homage to Spain’s Pastora Solér by taking on her powerful and ever so popular “Quédate conmigo”.

It was an emotional moment for Suzy because performing that song — which she did for the first time at the London Eurovision Party in 2014 — showed people another side to her, beyond the cha-cha and sizzle.

After that, there was, of course, time to pump up the volume and work the party vibe with a killer performance of “Quero ser tua”.

Did you love Suzy’s performances as much as we did? Are you hoping that she’ll make a return to Eurovision in the years ahead? And would you want her to sing a ballad or another uptempo dance number? Let us know in the comments box below.

I’m still waiting for the Suzy, Ruth and Conchita colab.

You just know those 3 on a track would slay.

This is just so awkward … feeling sorry that Portugal never won Eurovision was embarrassing enough back in 2008 … and then it all backlashed .. but turning Susy into some sort of the face of the Portugal that fans love to see in Eurovision is like praising Britney Spears for her lip syncing talent and that makes it all more excruciating painful to see – and she joins in every time because she’s not doing anything musically wise in Portugal – nobody cares for her. There is far and better talent in Portugal … come on … really?

I do not really know what William is looking at. I think he is not interested in her breasts. 😀 Maybe he lost something…
