It’s been over a year since we saw her take the Melodifestivalen stage, but Dinah Nah is still making us go “La La La”.

The Swedish singer has been busy in the studio recently, working on some new material (and ditching the pink hair in the process). She recently dropped her take on Frans’ Eurovision 2016 song “If I Were Sorry”, and you can now enjoy the release on Spotify.

Listen: Dinah Nah covers “If I Were Sorry”

This doesn’t just feel like a cover version though: this is Dinah Nah, to use the talent show phrase, making the song her own.

She enhances the laid-back feel of the original with some reggae-meets-electronic style, which Dinah compliments her vocals. If that wasn’t enough to set this version apart, the rap breakdown takes Dinah’s version further.

It sets her apart from Frans’ “talk-singing” in the original and makes this cover feel authentic.

A lot was made of “If I Were Sorry” being a big hit for the summer —but if anything, Dinah’s version feels like it would fill that role much better.

We can see ourselves sitting back on the beach with this playing while we that fantasy. It won’t be to everyone’s tastes, but it’s certainly making us excited to see Dinah back with some new material of her own.

What do you think of Dinah Nah’s cover? Do you prefer her version to Frans’ original? Let us know in the comments section below, or let us know on our Twitter page.

If I Were Sorry is still Top 4 in Austrian charts and thus the one and only hit Eurovision made this year.

The song is still bad even without Frans speaking it.

It’s different… and I don’t know if I prefer this musical arrangement or the original, I think both are good in their own way. What I am sure of however, is that Dinah’s voice is a lot better than Frans’

A question to wiwibloggs: can I have the full list of the emoticons I can use here? I know these three 🙂 🙁 😉 but I don’t know the others.

Honestly, this is a really below-average version of the song. Don’t know why you guys are praising it so heavily.

No, I don’t prefer it to the original.

Maybe if I’d heard this version first I’d feel differently, but there’s no way the song would have won Melodifestivalen without Frans.

Not better than the original at all. Kind of dull.
