Marco Mengoni, the Italian stallion we so vividly remember from the Eurovision 2013 final in Malmö, still smoulders.
And the latest proof comes via the video for his new single “Invencible,” which all you linguists can deduce means invincible. He’s left his signature suits at home is is spicing things up Latino-style in this Spanish-language track from his upcoming Spanish album Liberando Palabras.
“Invencible” is not the first time Marco has used his tongue to great effect with the Spanish language. He hit the charts in Spain back in 2014 with the EP Pronto a correre Spain, which included the three songs “Incomparable”, “Nunca se irá” and “No me detendré”.
And last December he announced — to the pleasure of his Spanish fans — that he would release an entire album focusing on the Spanish market. The album is due in January, but for now you can feast your eyes and ears on the video for “Invencible” — Marco’s ode to his one true love, who stays with him, no matter how dark the days…
It’s a heartfelt power ballad. If all the songs are as touching and beautiful as this, we may just need Marco to sing in Spanish permanently. You can read the English-language translation of “Invencible” at the end of this post.
