She defied critics at Eurovision 2016 and gave Belgium another top ten finish. Now Laura Tesoro has been named as the new co-host of the Flanders edition of Belgium’s Got Talent.
Laura will be co-presenting with the existing host Koen Wauters — and the two have history. Koen was Laura’s coach when she was a contestant on The Voice van Vlaanderen in 2014.
The former frontman of the pop group Clouseau guided Laura to finishing as the series runner-up. This led to her representing Belgium at Eurovision 2016, where she delivered her uplifting performance of “What’s the Pressure”.
Speaking to broadcaster VTM, Laura was excited by her new role and the chance to work with Koen:
“He was once my coach, he was a good friend and now we can also work as a duo. It’s amazing that I can now present Belgium’s Got Talent together with Koen Wauters. I really know that I am in good hands and I can learn from Koen. But I especially want to be surprised by the candidates.”
It takes massive balls to host a show this big, but Laura has got what it takes. As well as her singing experience, Laura is an experienced actor, having worked on both stage and screen.
Laura has already been hard at work on the show, with auditions kicking off in Antwerp. She and Koen will be busy wrangling the auditioning performers, ready to see what talent Flanders has to offer.
