Moldova‘s Eurovision 2016 representative Lidia Isac has recorded a stripped down cover of Zara Larsson & MNEK‘s hit song “Never Forget You”. To mark the occasion we caught up with the “Falling Stars” singer, who told us all about her Eurovision journey and plans for the future.
First off, Lidia Isac’s unplugged cover of “Never Forget You” came shortly after Swedish singer Zara Larsson was chosen as our pick for the 2016 wiwivision contest. The song finished in third place, but clearly it was Lidia’s favourite. She stripped the song to its bare essentials and delivered a clean and emotional interpretation.
It’s the second song she’s covered this summer.
She previously covered Dua Lipa’s “Last Dance”, which you can watch on her Facebook page. The singer revealed to wiwibloggs that this was done just for fun, in between rehearsals ahead of a concert planned for the fall, her first ever solo concert. It will include both international hits like “Never Forget You” and “Last Dance”, but also her own songs.
Miss Isac also told us that the Eurovision experience was a fast but pleasant whirlwind. She made a lot of friends along the way and she keeps in touch with all of them. She’s also received some interesting offers for projects in Europe.
One such project will be her upcoming single, called “La vita di poi” (Italian for The Afterlife). According to Lidia, it’s a serious song, with a deep philosophical meaning about life after death. The single, to be released in the autumn, is a duet in Italian and English with Italian singer Daniele Guastella.
Interestingly, Daniele also recorded a duet with Olia Tira, who represented Moldova at Eurovision in 2010 with SunStroke Project. That collaboration was called “Heroes”.
Last but not least, Lidia Isac told us that her Eurovision experience confirmed that she’s on the right track and that her destiny is music. She brushed off the fact that “Falling Stars” failed to advance to the Grand Final and is ready to push her career forward.

2013, 2012, 2011, 2010 and 2009 were also either equally trashy or average .. I can’t think of a Moldavian Eurovision entry I could even tolerate
