Anahit Adamyan and Mary Vardanyan will sing for Armenia at Junior Eurovision 2016 in Malta. The country’s Public Television Company officially announced the internal selection this morning. Their song will be revealed at a later stage.
Who are Anahit and Mary?
Both girls are 13 years old. Born in the Russian city of Sochi, Annahit has competed in several talent shows including the Russian edition of The Voice Kids and Igor Krutoy’s Battle of Talents. Mary is also a talent show veteran. The Vardenis born singer participated in several Armenian and international festivals, including Renaissance. Both girls claim to be big Junior Eurovision fans with Anahit saying:
I’m very honoured and happy to be given a chance to represent Armenia at this year’s Junior Eurovision! I can’t wait to share the stage with Mary. I’m sure we are going to have a blast!
While Mary adds:
I’ve always dreamed of singing in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest. I can’t believe that my dream is finally coming true! I’m very excited, and I promise that me and Anahit are going to do our best to impress everyone this November!
We’ll have to wait a while until the song comes out, but we already know that the girls can sing. The official press release was accompanied by the following showreel.
Armenia first entered Junior Eurovision in 2007, returning every year since. Out of nine attempts, they’ve placed in the top three six times, winning the contest outright in 2010. They most recently finished runner-up in 2015, with Mika and “Love”.

Can Anahit and Mary do one better and bring the county its second victory? Let us know in the comments below.
Yes, I’m Dutch xD Okay, thanks for the reply! 🙂
@Bouke
Your name sound pretty Dutch (or Belgian).
I saw it was on wikipedia, so I went to check the source. And apperently Escplus had an article with that information, but they removed it later.
@DenizNL – Where have you seen that? 🙂
There was a little rumour that Montenegro confirmed participation and chose a boy, but I don’t think that’s true.
Only girls in the competition so far, remember what happened in Malta 2014?
Other countries have to choose only boys.
By the way, I really hope Russia chooses Mariya Mirova 🙂
They look so sweet <3 🙂
This means we already have 9 girls – and 0 boys – this year so far…
