Nina Colors of my love

We’re often guilty of announcing that a certain singer or act is back, when in reality they never went away. But NINA is back! “Colors Of My Love” marks her first major release since “Caroban”, her Eurovision 2011 effort for Serbia. And it’s a banger.

After Düsseldorf, NINA packed her bags and relocated to Melbourne in Australia where she is currently working on a PHD in immunopharmacology. And it’s not just her location that’s changed. Gone is the bottle blonde bob, replaced with natural brunette curls. She looks youthful and fresh-faced, yet professional.

Her sound is also different, swapping swinging sixties vibes for radio-friendly pop. Set to drum and bass beats, NINA does her best to cling onto love, urging her lover to “stop pushing me away”. Her vocals are flawless, with a range that’s improved in spades since her Eurovision gig. We see and hear the colours of NINA’s love, and we love it!

The accompanying music video could pass for a Tourism Victoria advertisement — for those who don’t know Australian geography, Melbourne is the capital of Victoria — with NINA giving the spotlight to some major monuments. From digging her toes in the sand on St Kilda Beach, to caressing the walls of the University of Melbourne, frolicking in the flora of the Botanical Gardens and taking a stroll along the Yarra River, Nina seems to be loving her new life in the land down under.

I once saw her IG account and I never thought that she will be having a music career again. While seeing her feed there, she was doing well with her PhD, family, friends, and Australia. This is a bit surprising for someone who was able to witness her life journey there such as me so kudos to you, Nina!

Hmmmm. To sit and listen to on my daily commute into work I’m not impressed. However as soon as I reach the Adriatic Sea and jump on a boat I think it could be one of my top songs…. It needs sunshine
