Sweden’s top producers don’t collaborate with just anyone. So when we heard that Tobias Fröberg (Loreen, Anna Bergendahl, Peter Jöback) was working with rising star Hampus Nessvold we had to check out their collaboration and find out more about the 20-year-old singer.

With 20,000 Instagram followers and counting, Hampus seems poised to make a splash on the Swedish music scene. He’s certainly well-connected.

Five weeks ago he shared a snap of himself pigging out with Marcus & Martinus — Norway’s most famous set of singing twins. And Melodifestivalen star Molly Pettersson Hammar has publicly praised his talent (see this Instagram video).

So who is Hampus Nessvold?

Now 20, he interviewed the likes of Ace Wilder for his podcast when he was still a teenager, winning over fans with his playful personality and sincere curiosity. He bottled up plenty of inspiration. In 2014 he released his debut single “Thinking Out Loud”.

The stripped-back number starts quietly and contemplatively, but soon morphs into an anthemic number worthy of Globen Arena.

Looking at the theme of time passing too quickly and the speedy rush from childhood to adulthood, it caught a moment in Hampus’ evolution — both personal and musical.

Hampus has gone on to host 22 Kvadrat i P3, a popular radio show with over one million listeners every weekend.

The comedy show recounts his experiences living in a tiny flat in Stockholm with YouTube personality and Melfest 2016 host William Spetz and rising starlet Linda Ulfhielm.

His most recent single “Harder Faster” is giving us major shades of Rufus Wainwright.

Produced by Tobias Fröberg, it sees Hampus dropping his haunting vocals accompanied by little more than the piano and an electro thump — no doubt symbolic of the heart he sings about. The echoing ohs have a spiritual, almost tribal quality. Tingles, y’all.

His management tells us more songs will come later in the year. Might one of them be worthy of a spot at Melodifestivalen? We’ll have to wait and see…

He’s probably most known for being in a relationship with a famous youtuber in Sweden, and started his career from “there”. Not sure he’s one for Melfest though.. we’ll see!
