During the Eurovision Song Contest 2016, Malta’s Ira Losco radiated happiness and a natural glow — eventually confirming the news that she was pregnant with her first child.

And this morning her Master Chef boyfriend Sean Gravina revealed that Ira has given birth to a healthy baby boy named Harry.

The “Walk On Water” singer broke her water sometime on Thursday, welcoming her bundle of joy late last night.

Sean is clearly ecstatic:

“What an absolute journey from the beginning till the very end of it. Our baby Harry was born last night and Ira is recovering perfectly, she was great. I have something to say about the hospital here, they are absolutely incredible. Ultimate organisation and extreme timing, Ira’s delivery wasn’t an easy one and they took care of it so amazingly well. I’d like to thank all the doctors and nurses especially Carmen Wareing who took care of Ira with such care and passion, our Anaesthetist, Ira’s gynaecologist Mark Sant who supported her throughout her pregnancy and Dr. Samuel our paediatrician who took care of Harry during his first minutes of life. I wish I could remember all the names, thank you all for your love and support. Harry and Ira are both healthy and settled in hospital”.

Later in the morning Ira thanked everyone — from her nurses to her gynaecologist — for their support and published the first photo of her son on Facebook.

”Thank you to everyone who was part of this incredible journey!! Our baby Harry was born last night and I am recovering well. Sean was of such support, which was very needed as my delivery wasn’t an easy one. I must thank the delivery staff at Mater Dei are absolutely incredible. Shortly after the announcement she was pregnant, Ira spoke with us on the red carpet in Stockholm.

At the time she told us that she would have preferred to keep her pregnancy a secret.

“I didn’t want for one second that people thought I couldn’t do this,” she said. “I didn’t want anyone to perceive this pregnancy as standing in my way.”

Congratulations! So Ira was six months pregnant during the contest. This makes sense, the end of the second trimester is supposed to be a ‘honeymoon’ of pregnancy when nausea is over and the baby is not too big for you to run into the loo every 10 minutes. All the best, now the fun part begins.

I knew she was more than a few weeks pregnant when Eurovision came along. Probably for insurance reasons she said that. But anyway, congrats Ira! Best wishes to her and her new little family.
