The X Factor UK screened Saara Aalto‘s audition tonight, showing the Finnish diva impressing the judging panel with her emotional performance of Sia’s “Chandelier”. It inspired judge Nicole Scherzinger to give Saara a standing ovation, saying “My ass wants to clap for you” — high praise indeed!
Saara explained to the judges that while she has done talent shows in Finland, she’s never done anything like The X Factor UK — a show that could give her singing career a serious boost.
The Eurovision fan favourite then performed her audition song “Chandelier” — and she nailed it. Saara delivered a stripped-back version of the song, hitting every note, yet in her own style.
The judges were blown away, with Simon Cowell saying, “That’s how you do it!” Nicole Scherzinger gave Saara a standing ovation and shocked Simon and Louis by proclaiming, “That was so good you make me want to twerk right now. My ass wants to clap for you!”
The three judges happily gave Saara three yeses, meaning she’s made it through to bootcamp, where she’ll need to further impress the judges if she wants to make it to the live shows.
Earlier this year Saara participated in UMK — Finland’s national final for Eurovision, where her dramatic song “No Fear” won the televote and placed second overall. She’s also performed on the Finnish version of Got Talent, and in 2012 came second on The Voice of Finland.
Also due to make an appearance on the new series of The X Factor UK is Bianca Claxton, who was one of the finalists in the UK’s national final, Eurovision: You Decide. Back in July, it was reported that she’d impressed the judges with her audition, especially Sharon Osborne who declared Bianca as a potential winner.
@Jonas Totally agree, altho it was frustrating, having these winners singles that were generally terrible taking up #1 slots all the time. Most of the winners end up releasing dire first singles, falling out with Simon Cowell and even if they have success for a couple of years (Leona for example), they start to fade very quickly, they never seem to get long term backing. Little Mix I think are the last act to have great success after winning. It’s often better not to win the show and just get the promo (One Direction, Olly Murs etc). But even then… Read more »
It’s a shame the X Factor has stopped producing chart stars. None of these contestants will get any success out of this show. That time is gone.
@mad-professor
You are not the only one 😀
Am I the only one who thinks she should perform No Fear at some point?
She truly killed it!
And congrats to her getting engaged as well!
WOOOOOOOOOOW! SHE’S FIVE STARS IN MY BOOK!!
Very good audition .. Note perfect .. However she seems more of a broadway style singer than pop singer
