Melodifestivalen star and fashion blogger Viktor Frisk has come out, sharing with his fans and friends on social media that he is bisexual. The performer who makes up one half of Samir & Viktor posted a heartfelt message, saying “I like both girls and guys.”

Accompanied with a photo of Viktor casually dressed in jeans and a hoodie, standing in front of a golden sunset, he shared the message with his fans on Instagram and Facebook.

“I would never make a big deal of this. Do not think it matters very much really. But I like both girls and boys. I was born that way. All people deserve to love just who they want and that includes me. I will always respect people who respect me the same way back! Love will always be greater than hate. It makes neither you nor me a worse person, we only become stronger! Together. Never let me go and I will never let you go. You guys are my best friends!”

Viktor’s message received a positive response on social media, with comments like “Incredible and important words!”, “You are the best!” “Respect to you” and the very enthusiastic “Bisexuality is the shit!”. There was also an abundance of heart emojis as Viktor’s fans showered him with love and support.

Along with his best friend Samir Badran, Viktor is part of the duo Samir & Viktor. They’ve had a number of hit singles in Sweden, including “Success”, “Saxof***ingfon” and “Fick Feeling”, as well as their two Melodifestivalen hits, the friendship anthem “Groupie” and “Bada nakna”, which celebrated freedom and self-expression.

Viktor’s coming out follows fellow Melfest star Oscar Zia, who came out earlier this year before going on to place second at Melfest with “Human”. Norway’s Tooji came out last year by releasing a NSFW music video showing him engaging in sexual intercourse with a priest in a church.

In Asia, it’s a really big deal that famous people come out of closet ‘cuz they’re gonna be unemployed for his/her sexuality. Really happy for him and hope he do well in the showbiz ^()^

“Norway’s Tooji came out last year”

Lmfao, who is coming out the closet next, Conchita? DQ?

Pretty sure there was a story in 2012 about tooji not being able to visit family in iran as openly gay so first time he saw them in years was when they got together in Azerbaijan

Good for Viktor! This actually isn’t surprising to me because I remember seeing an interview or two of Samir&Viktor and feeling like he was kind of in love with Samir, the way he looked at him…

I don’t know if I would say Samir is also bi. Maybe just really tanned

Cont:
By some (the people who think those who came out were already accepted by many), I meant those people who dismiss coming out as a no big deal nowadays.

It is really generous for fans and some other people to support Viktor after coming out as bisexual. Most people who had difficult time in coming out have different stories given how it had different impacts and consequences to their own selves and other people. It can never be taken for granted because people who come out still seek for acceptance even though some think they were already accepted by many, regardless if they belong from a tolerant country or a homophobic country. It’s not that easy.

No kidding…are we really surprised? The entertainment world is full of LGBTQ people. 😀

He’s hot so I agree with his coming-out 100%

And Robyn’s right. PLEASE people before you say “who cares?” or “it’s not a big deal”, just remember to not project your own environment’s tolerance onto their situation. Viktor is lucky to be in Sweden. But he may have closeted gay fans who are being bullied in Russia, Serbia, Iran, etc that will see this and think “i’m not alone”, and it’ll give them hope for a better life.

Congrats dude. I came out back in 2006 and it was smooth sailing for me mostly.

Sweden’s more accepting than the USA and it was pretty easy for me so good luck on you new “sexual” endeavors in the open world.

Most country except the West and would be a big deal.

All the best Viktor. From the interviews he seams like a nice guy and even if their songs aren’t exactly deep and heartbreaking, they are fun and catchy. I couldn’t care less about his sexuality, but it is nice to see an era when men can also say they are bisexual. Up till recent, bi was almost an ‘all girls club’, more seen as means to make guys fantasize more. It is actually as real as being gay or straight and guys like Douwe Bob and Viktor are just adding to the interesting bunch of people who just happen to… Read more »

@Alex: Samir has a “brand” to preserve … the “womanizing-reality-tv-focus-on-me-wannabe-star” brand … coming out anything-sexual will interfere with that plus he has a cultural background that would never see it with understanding eyes.

Honestly this coming out is both unsurprising and not necessarily earth shattering … if we compare it with people being brave to come out under more difficult circumstances like traditional family values or religious and cultural repressive mentalities. But anyway … people will now wonder when will he come out as gay for real cause that’s seems to be the pattern.

If the guy is attracted to both, it’s his choice. We all need to respect anybody’s else freedom to love and be loved. I don’t think it will be a big deal anywhere else in the planet except for Muslim world and Russia.

People need to be happy. It’s his formula of happiness and he’s got our supports. Greetings from Armenia

And there was me thinking Samir was going to be the gay or Bi one. Anyways, best of luck to him. Wasn’t an easy statement to make, regardless of how open society in Sweden is, admitting something like this is never easy. He has my respect.

davve: It’s maybe not such a big deal in Sweden 2016, but in other countries that have more conservative attitudes to sexuality, news like this can offer positivity and hope to young LGBT people who might be struggling in their community.
