From Disney princess at Eurovision 2010 to long-suffering shopkeeper to The Voice contestant smashing Adele’s “Hello”, Filipa Azevedo has seen her ups and downs.
And now the last Portuguese singer to qualify for a Grand Final at Eurovision continues her evolution in “September Issue” — the latest single and music video from the Portuguese band Darko.
“SEPTEMBER ISSUE” — DARKO FT. FILIPA AZEVEDO
“September Issue” is the first single from Darko’s latest album — Overexpression — which the group has already released on online platforms.
They were wise to kick off the album’s marketing campaign by calling on Filipa, who channels the pop-rock-alternative vibe with aplomb.
In the process she smashes the notion that that she’s just the girl-next-door who sings ballads. Now she’s the girl-next-door who oozes pain, plots revenge and wants “to see your heart breaking”.
No, she doesn’t just sing ballads. She devours them.
This is renewal, this is rebirth, this is DRAMA — and not just when it comes to Filipa’s edgy look and modern, R&B-tinged sound.
The song sees a couple struggle with pride and forgiveness as their restless hearts beat with anxiety and pain and, no doubt, shadows of love.
All this while rocking a swimming pool. This is how you do it!

September Issue lyrics — Darko
From the day we met
I knew you’d be someone I’d regret
Though I didn’t know your name
I knew there was not much to explain now
You shouldn’t see my heart breaking
You shouldn’t see my heart breaking
It’s dangerous withou you here
I shouldn’t remember
Remember
You set a storm inside me
My feelings rotten to the bone
You make me wanna give up my soul to learn
To try to tell you
I forgive you
Now I’m back to my old self
disenchanted and overwhelmed
but I didn’t lose my sight
and one last cigarette could make things look brighter
I wanna see your heart breaking
I just wanna see your heart breaking
It’s dangerous withou you here
I shouldn’t remember
Remember
You set a storm inside me
My feelings rotten to the bone
You make me wanna give up my soul to learn
To try to tell you
I forgive you
‘Cause I think too much
You know that I think too much
@Charles .
When did anyone say they hated Disney ..I don’t see anything in this article. Saying the princess is dead just means she is doing darker material..obviously Disney is more aimed at families so it doesn’t present dark songs generally..but I’m confused where you are seeing this Disney hate?
Really really good!
Darko is not a band, but a singer.
The whole hatred against the word “Disney” is way too much …
Love her! Well done girl
