Every year fans and the international media scrutinise the wardrobe choices of Eurovision contestants as much as they scrutinise their songs. We all know about the Barbara Dex Award, given to the worst dressed contestant each year. But we wanted to know who you thought was best dressed in 2016.

Armenia’s Iveta Mukuchyan donned a leotard and cape and served up some superhero realness. Czech Republic’s Gabriela Guncikova was wondrous in white. And The Netherlands’ Douwe Bob was brilliant in blue. But one colour lit up your life like no other. After counting 5,475 votes, we can now reveal that Poland’s Michal Szpak was won the Vision Music Award 2016 for Best Dressed.

The Eurovision Song Contest 2016 had it all — from outfits that literally lit up the stage to outfits handpicked by Vogue.

But Poland’s Michal proved that sometimes less is more. Wearing a striking red coat, his outfit complimented his song and staging perfectly. What colour is your life? We have no doubt that it’s red!

Extravagant but elegant, bold but beautiful, simple but sensational — there’s no doubt that Michal Szpak is the best dressed pirate in the Caribbean, or Europe.

Best Dressed 2016: Full Results

  1. Michal Szpak (Poland): 2,162 votes (39.49%)
  2. Iveta Mukuchyan (Armenia): 1,644 votes (30.03%)
  3. Gabriela Guncikova (Czech Republic): 636 votes (11.62%)
  4. Douwe Bob (The Netherlands): 593 votes (10.83%)
  5. Samra (Azerbaijan): 268 votes (4.89%)
  6. Serhat (San Marino): 172 votes (3.14%)

We add Michal Szpak to the best dressed Hall of Fame, where he joins Russia’s Polina Gagarina from 2015, Ukraine’s Mariya Yaremchuk from 2014 and Romania’s Cezar from 2013.

(J)ESC Fanatic – Fortunately your comments “make sense”, smartie. I hope Micha? will win in two more categories where he was nominated. Micha? Szpak has fans and fan clubs in many countries in Europe, Israel and Canada. Not only people from Poland support him and vote for him, because he is exeptional.

I really don’t understand all of you who don’t accept voters choice. Have you voted for your idols and their impressive dresses? Probably not. And now you are very disappointed. Why ?
It is your fault that Szpak has won because you were just too lazy to vote. And now it’s to late to cry over spilt milk. Try to do better next time.

Your comment makes no sense. I feel sorry for you.

“I advise you to check up your knowledge before write such a babble.”

You’d better advise yourself, sweetheart. If you want to know, each person can vote up to 20 times. 5.000.000 x 20 = ?

Well, along with other years winners at this section, I just don’t care then. Though his outfit was fine but of narrow range of taste.

@(J)ESC fanatic I advise you to check up your knowledge before write such a babble. But if you cant do this, I will make you conscious about some facts. We have about 7 milions polish ppl living in Europe, according to the newest informations. Supposing 70% of them watched ESC (optimistic version, but well..) and each of them voted, we have about 5 milions? Even when we add to this votes from Poles living in coutries which not belong to Europe, we may have 5,1 milions, and this is reeeaaly optimistic version. As we know, Michal got 22 milions votes,… Read more »

(J)ESC Fanatic – Oh, your voting was so poor, I’m sorry. Armenia wasn’t impressive unfortunately and didn’t deserved winning and you know about it. You are envious . Do better next year . Perhaps you will be successful 🙂

This outfit reminds me too much a circus director.
Couldn’t he have worn something like the blue blazer he wore on the red carpet?

I wasn’t a really big fan of his song either anyway…

Hoping for Poland to smash next year, musically and in fashion, too 🙂

Oh, please shut up! I have the right to express my opinion, you know! And I voted for Armenia! I would have voted for Ukraine and Australia too if they had been candidates.

Don’t try to lie to yourself, Poland did so well with the televote just because of his fans and Polish diaspora. Not because of the actual song.

How I hate all these haters here… tell me, WHY didnt you vote??? And dont tell about polish fans again, just check russian fanpage and hoe much members it has! Do you think Poles has nothing to do but voting? You could vote as well as Michal’s fans, from WHOLE world. He didnt gave this prize him by himself, PEOPLE gave him it. Your comments are like : “oh, it is a pity they didnt give me my dream job (no matter I didnt aply for it…)” YOU are pathetic, not Michal. He looked beautiful and he will be remembered… Read more »

Awarding someone for wearing like Captain Hook … does this means that next year Tinkerbell will be awarded too? This is just so pathetic … and seriously what is the point of these “VMA” when we already have the original ones since 1984 …

(J)ESC Fanatic – Armenia, Ukraine or Australia should have won here ???????????? So, why didn’t you vote for them? Micha? Szpak should have won Eurovision . His 8th place was a fake. Youry’s voting was a fake. He deserved at least 3rd place.

Micha? Szpak as usual is the best. And you envy him his fans? Everybody can vote for favourite vocalist. Why don’t you do it ? The winner takes it all. And this year Micha? is the winner without doubt. You can’t change it . Even don’t try.

The garment is a matter of taste. Michael was a very original styling and and stood out from the other participants. She beat of his class, he looked dignified as befits Eurovision. Definitely deserves this award.

Iveta the real winner had by far the best outfit at ESC 2016.
