With Ukraine’s national selection process in full swing, broadcaster STB is looking for a public wildcard. Ahead of the semi-final shows next year it is staging an online contest — judged by the public — in which one lucky act will get a ticket to the semis. Submit your songs. Get the most votes by January 15. Win a spot in the contest.
The broadcaster has already revealed some of the submitted songs, which you can listen to at the end of this post.

Ukraine’s 2016 national selection
As you’ll recall, Ukraine began accepting applications for its Eurovision 2016 national selection on September 1. There are two ways to participate: Submit an application online between now and January or take part in an in-person audition in the Ukrainian cities of Zaporizhia, Kharkiv, Odessa, Lviv, Dnipro or Kyiv between October 6 and January 15.
The semi-finals are tentatively scheduled for February and will be held in Kyiv. Both the audience and the jury will choose finalists. As for the jury, we only know the names of two people at this point — Konstantin Meladze and Jamala.
Natalia Franchuk, the head of the national selection for Eurovision 2017, is enthused that the Eurovision 2016 winner is on board. She said:
“We are very pleased that Jamala has become the second jury member. Generally speaking, after the victory of Ukraine at the Eurovision 2016, there could not be another candidate. For us, Jamala is not only a judge of the national selection, she knows what it takes to get victory in the international song contest, and we will be able to share this experience with the new representative of Ukraine as much as possible, to repeat her success in 2017.”

The song by COD is very good! Reminds me of the songs of the Ukraine national final from 2005….with lots og good rock / indie songs. Unfortauntely, Ukraine finals have not been that musically interesting since….Also Axel Angels have a brilliant song.
I hope 1944 will paw way from many musically daring songs next year.

NikitA tried to compete in 2009 but backed out for unknown reasons. Their live vocals were kinda awful while singing an English song so that’s probably the reason why.
Also, I once saw the website of the Ukrainian duo SELFY (not the trio SELFIE) some months ago that said they will be joining the national selection too.
We all know that whoever it is who represents Ukraine, it will be a model-esque female, with some spectacular albeit out-of-place prop which grabs audience attention, while covering up the fact that the song is awful, all while singing a song in an accent that will make the lyrics sound like she is singing something else (sounding like something political probably, but song lyrics would appear to be apolitical ) which will come in the Top 10 at Kyiv 2017.
The HARDKISS will be the winners of the Ukrainian selection! I so want them to go to Eurovision. 😀

In my opinion, none of these will be going to Eurovision, none of them are really that good! Julia Sanina has already confirmed that she is writing a Hardkiss entry for the selection, which I’m sure is bound to blow all of these out of the park!
