Three years ago, she joined the hip hop duo Who See on stage at Eurovision 2013, magically appearing from a hole in the stage floor while throwing down a very urban club track.

But on September 27 Nina Zizic showed off her softer side with the music video release of “Kiss You, Goodbye!”

The song will feature in the Azeri film Hedden artiq uygunluq (Excessive Affinity), a romantic comedy directed by Ülviyye Könül, which is set for release by the end of the year.

“I was in Baku for a different project, but since the people from the agency liked the way I sing, they suggested that I record this song for a film,” Nina told Vijesti.me.

“The Peachline Agency was in charge of the logistical support for the film, and as they are very efficient and professional, they arranged not only the recording of the song, but also the shooting of the music video.”

“Kiss You, Goodbye!” is the English-language cover of the song “Qayitdi xeyallar” (Returned Dreams) by Samira, which was a big hit in Azerbaijan a few years ago. Duh.

Composed by Ayten Ismixanova, it’s a touchy-feely R&B electro ballad that deals with love and heartbreak. The complex feelings work well with Nina’s impeccable vocals.

Nina said that she would like to record this song in Montenegrin as well, “but I need some really good lyrics.”

The music video, which features clips from the unseen film, was shot in Baku and directed by Erkin Osmanli.

Nina at Eurovision 2013

Who See and Nina emerged as fan favourites at Eurovision 2013 in Malmö.

Their entry “Igranka” came fourth in the public vote, but owing to a negative reaction from the jury failed to make the final. It still hurts us.

Anyway, how do you like Nina’s new song? Thumbs up? Or are you kissing Nina goodbye?

So what’s the near-relationship killing misunderstanding in an Azeri rom-com? She thinks she sees him reading an Armenian book?

@ Roxana Montoya: I didn’t mean exchanging points between them. I was talking about the whole jury voting procedure in recent years, when each jury member ranked countries from 1 to 26, and there were some cases which raised suspicions (all 5 jury members giving almost identical rankings). I remember there were a lot of Wiwibloggs articles about that, and both Azerbaijan and Montenegro were among the countries named, as well as Armenia and Georgia. Of course, this has nothing to do with Nina or any other artist representing these countries, I just said it because it was the first… Read more »

Montenegro gave highest pts to Azerbaiyán only once and that happened in 2013. Plus it’s Nina coming to Azerbaiyán, not Montenegro. You people can’t just stop overreacting everything. lol
