She’s the self-described “snow fairy from Finland” who has made it to the live shows of the UK’s X Factor.

And now, as hype ramps up ahead of Saturday’s first knock-out round, we’re learning much more about UMK veteran Saara Aalto.

In a set of fact cards released by ITV, Saara reveals that she has a fear of needles, adores the Spice Girls, would love to duet with Eurovision winner Celine Dion and that she has a crush on Simba from the animated film The Lion King. Talk about animal attraction!

Simba may not look kindly on Miss Aalto after learning the weirdest fact of the lot, which involves another animal.

Her pet hamster seems to have died when its head exploded.

But Saara’s deceased pets aren’t the only news items circulating at the moment.

On Tuesday Saara featured in a spread in UK entertainment magazine Heat, revealing that her girlfriend has proposed to her.

“I just got engaged to my girlfriend,” she says when asked if she has someone special supporting her.

“She’s my manager as well, so we moved to London together. We just got engaged a month ago. It’s been crazy.”

Saara, clearly adjusting to her new-found fame in the UK, shared a pic of the story on Twitter and Instagram. We are loving her enthusiasm!

She also speaks candidly about her family’s financial situation.

Asked whether her parents will come watch her perform, she says:

“I wish they could, but I have to say my parents don’t have much money. I come from quite a small village and a very poor family, but we have so much love and that is the most important thing really.”

Hello, Neat post. There’s a problem together with your web site in internet explorer, might test this… IE still is the marketplace leader and a good element of folks will pass over your wonderful writing due to this problem.

I want Saara to do well and become accepted by my fellow British friends. Her ride hasn’t been smooth, granted, but she’s been given a good song this week: “Let It Go”

I like her happy, laid-back attitude and how she is not afraid to talk openly about issues like her relationship with a woman and her parents’ financial situation, not giving a darn what people are going to say. Bravo Saara, the world needs more people like you!

I’m afraid of newspapers so I know what it feels like to be judged for an unusual fear. Relatable queen <3
