ani lorak razve ty ljubil i don't love

Incredibly, it’s more than eight years since Ukraine’s Ani Lorak wowed Europe with her powerful voice, infectious charisma and irrepressible sex appeal at Eurovision 2008.

Almost a decade on, the “Shady Lady” continues to slay the pack, dropping smash hit after smash hit. Fresh from the success of “Ukhodi po-angliyski” and “Uderzi moe serdce” earlier in the year, Ani is back with yet another hit in the making.

“Razve ty ljubil”, or “I Don’t Love” in English, sees Ani revert to the bombastic balladry that she’s become so fond of in recent times.

Pregnant with drama and emotion, the song demands our attention from the off.  Accompanied by a piano, some lush strings, and a little percussion, Ani’s voice acts like a celestial body, drawing us mere mortals into its orbit.

The melodrama is cranked up to the max and everything is wonderfully OTT — don’t call her Ani Snorlax!

Aptly, the “Razve ty ljubil” music video is set entirely on a film lot. The one-time Junior Eurovision host channels a host of Hollywood’s finest leading ladies. One moment she’s a silver screen starlet a la Audrey Hepburn or Elizabeth Taylor, the next she’s sitting in the director’s chair a la Angelina Jolie.

The clip is directed by Alan Badoev. It’s his third year working with the singer.

“I am very happy, that every new job with Alan gives me the opportunity to open up on the site, Alan never ceases to amaze me, he seemed to challenge me, putting me certain tasks and opens new dimensions for me…” — says Ani.

Ani Lorak shimmied her way across the Belgrade stage in 2008, aided by four very energetic dancers and a reflective light box. “Shady Lady” came second to Russia’s Dima Bilan with “Believe”. Beaten by only 42 points, it lives on as a Euroclub hit.

I’d rather translate “Razve ty ljubil” as “Were you really in love”. 🙂

“Razve ty ljubil” means “Did you really love”, not “I Don’t Love”

Isn’t the title actually translated as ‘Didn’t you love’? I believes that’s how the chorus runs…
Didn’t you love? As I loved you?
Didn’t you become…my destiny?
