They’ve just celebrated their 25th birthday by treating fans to a concert. Now Jedward have another present, with their new single “Hologram”, a bittersweet dance track.

While talk of a holograms makes us think of Iveta Mukuchyan in Stockholm, Jedward’s hologram symbolises the end of a relationship. Gone is the chemistry they had with their baes. They sing, “‘Cause in my head you’re just a hologram/That no longer cares for love or affection/How could you be this cold and so transparent?”

The song embraces EDM, creating a club banger. It’s the perfect tune to use to dance away your heartache.

Ice ice baby
Ice ice baby: Edward explores the wintery landscape

The music video delivers plenty of drama. We discover John and Edward in a wintery landscape, as they and some dramatic looking girls strut and pout around the icy environment. (It looks cold – we just hope that that there were some hot cups of tea waiting off camera.)

Jedward also make an appearance with different hair colour to their usual sunny blonde. John is looking all dark and mysterious with black hair, while Edward has gone for an edgy blue. And if you’ve ever had trouble telling them apart, their new Jedsthetic has makes it a whole lot easier.

The lads recently celebrated their 25th birthday, having come a long way from the 19-year-olds who charmed Europe with “Lipstick” in DĂĽsseldorf. As part of the celebrations they held a special concert for fans in London, and treated their supporters to all their Jepic hits.

Jedward have also been keeping busy as mentors on Ireland’s national selection for Junior Eurovision. In their episode, Dublin boy Walter McCabe was selected for the final, while this week Dustin the Turkey helped select Zena Donnelly.

In weeks to come we’ll know who will be following in Jedward’s footsteps with the honour of representing Ireland at Eurovision.

Jedward – “Hologram”

Jedward – “Hologram” (lyrics)

I used to be your future, now I’m your past
Tell me how this happened, why we turned to ash
Where did your heart go? It don’t make any sense
I’ve been reaching out but you reject my attempts

Oh, enough is enough, I miss our chemistry
And how it felt back then making sweet memories
Oh, I’m on my knees praying, I do believe
That calling out for you, won’t you acknowledge me

Cos in my head you’re just a hologram
That no longer cares for love or affection
How could you be this cold and so transparent?
I need to love you now but you’re a hologram

Cos in my head you’re just a hologram
That no longer cares for love or affection
How could you be this cold and so transparent?
I need to love you now but you’re a hologram

Once upon a kiss we had it all
Now we’re just a memory in a bottle
I got nostalgic feelings running through my veins
I know that I’m in trouble cos I feel this pain

And we reached a point of no return
Turning back for you ain’t an option
A silhouette is fading while my heart is breaking
Tell me what to do, tell me how to stop shaking

Oh, enough is enough, I miss our chemistry
And how it felt back then making sweet memories
Oh, I’m on my knees praying, I do believe
That calling out for you, won’t you acknowledge me

Cos in my head you’re just a hologram
That no longer cares for love or affection
How could you be this cold and so transparent?
I need to love you now but you’re a hologram

Cos in my head you’re just a hologram
That no longer cares for love or affection
How could you be this cold and so transparent?
I need to love you now but you’re a hologram
