With the grand final of Junior Eurovision 2016 just over three weeks away, host broadcaster PBS have revealed the hosts of the contest. JESC 2016 will be presented by Maltese television stars Ben Camille and Valerie Vella.
Following the successful double act of Måns Zelmerlöw and Petra Mede at Eurovision 2016, Malta are also sending their own pairing of an older female host with a younger male host. While JESC is typically presented by a duo, for the past two years it has been presented by a solo host.
Model/actor Ben Camille may be best known to Eurovision fans as the 2016 host of the Malta Eurovision Song Contest. He’s also known for his modelling career, and has established himself as a television actor. He currently stars in the popular Maltese drama series Strada stretta. Like most Maltese stars, Ben also has a day job, running his own property management and development company.
Valerie Vella has been working in Maltese media for over 20 years, starting at TVM at the age of 18. As well as general television work, she is a Eurovision veteran, having hosted the national final three times, and has been the Maltese commentator for Eurovision, the points spokesperson, and even the head of press.
Following the success of Eurovision star Poli Genova hosting JESC in Bulgaria last year, many fans looked to Malta’s Eurovision stars as potential JESC hosts. New mum Ira Losco was a favourite, but perhaps she was too busy with baby Harry.
The opening ceremony of Junior Eurovision 2016 will be held on 14 November at the historic Manoel Theatre, presented by Taryn Mamo Cefai. The grand final of Junior Eurovision 2016 will be held on 20 November at the Mediterranean Conference Centre. Team Wiwi will be there to bring you full coverage!
who?
I already had the feeling Ben Camille could be the host, when he was announcing the points in may. I think it would be a great host, same about Valerie.
