Talk about a proper performance! George Michaelides looks set to get the crowd up and moving after his first rehearsal of “Dance Floor”. Team Cyprus are bringing it, y’all! This has some serious choreography from start to finish and George looks like a real star in the centre of it all. Whereas we’ve seen dance breaks fail to hit home before at Junior Eurovision, George makes this one really stand out.
With a bevy of backing dancers/drummers alongside George, the staging feels really well thought out. The video wall is as frenetic as the song, too, with embers flaring up during the opening drumming, as well as a heart rate line during the breakdown. George and his troupe make great use of the satellite stage too.
Junior Eurovision 2016: Cyprus first rehearsal
Not every run was perfect throughout, with George notably missing his drumsticks at the start of one run. But that’s what a first rehearsal is for, after all, to iron out those little issues. As it stands, George looks set to bring a serious tempo change right and could steal the show towards the end.
What do you think of George Michaelides’ first rehearsal? Does he make you want to get up on to the Dance Floor too? Let us know in the comments section below.

The song is painfully cheaply produced, but he slays a bit on stage. I guess his performing skills will save him from last place (which the song would get had this been an audio-only contest).
Dark horse.
As excruciatingly ridiculous as Junior Eurovision is, I do have to compliment this young guy from Cyprus.
Truth be told, I can only watch this performance with the sound off. However, in a few years, he may actually have a career in the entertainment industry to look forward to.
Good luck!!
This was my 13-years old sister’s favourite. She said “This song was the only one i would listen to on the radio. Many of the songs were really outdated like Ukraine and Georgia”. I agree with her. Bring JESC to 2010s
This definitely stands out so far among ballads and girls…. Good for George! My only complaint is that it does not look effortless–instead, I see a very concentrated performer and part of me strains with him. The choreography, assuming it does not take away from his vocal performance, is great. I think that the juries and the kids (especially the girls) are likely to notice this boy.
This song sounds kinda amateurish to me, I doubt it can score well.
I hope so, though.

“I think it depends on which people all the countries send to Malta to represent them as juries.”
You are right on this. I think the Montenegrin and Georgian ESC 2016 entries are different from this though. This sounds pretty amateurish and there are better performers than George this year, that’s why I don’t see the juries being fans of it. Anyway, I just made a prediction, I may be wrong.
Remember this years ESC jury, (J)ESC fanatic. They liked experimental songs. They wanted Montenegro and Georgia in the final. I think it depends on which people all the countries send to Malta to represent them as juries.
The staging is great but this is really not a jury-friendly entry. Cyprus will struggle to make the top 10.
Those dance moves are everything! Looking forward to seeing it live!
I have to say this is one of the best rehearsals! Good luck Cyprus!
