On Saturday she emerged as our favourite to win Junior Eurovision 2016 after she delivered a jaw-dropping performance of her song “Mzeo”.

And on Sunday afternoon Georgia’s Mariam Mamadashvili lived up to all of the hype, running away with the adult jury vote en route to winning Junior Eurovision.

Moments after leaving the stage she entered the press room carrying the Georgian flag, smiling from ear to ear and bubbling over with enthusiasm and energy.

Her mother was the first person she spoke with after her win.

“She didn’t say anything,” she tells us. “She just cried.”

We’d be crying too if our little one had just won JESC — and in such dazzling style.

Following her win Mariam, who had been somewhat reserved throughout the week, was beyond ecstatic and really showed her personality with the press for the first time.

During our interview she bounced up and down, smiled and laughed, but still managed to tell us her travel plans.

“I’m going into Tbilisi right now and then after ten days, or one week, I’m going back in the United States. Yaaaay!”

How will she celebrate?

“I am going to do everything. Eat ice cream, chocolate, chocolate and chocolate. And then I’m going to go in the pool for three hours. And then I’m going in the party.”

The young starlet was still coming to terms with her victory, and remained in disbelief.

“When they told me that I won I was like, ‘Oh my god I won!’ and then I was like ‘Oh my god I won!’ and then, at the last, when I was singing, when I cried, I was like ‘I actually won!'”

On Wednesday Mariam celebrated her birthday in style by attending her first rehearsal at JESC. You can hear her talking about her birthday plans below.

bb, are you obsessed with strange nicknames? 🙂 my point is- this is KIDS show, small kids perform and try their best to deliver quality performance. kids are fragile and we adults should be careful in what we say about the subject. what just about to happen? some people as usual try to start “she won only because of jury, blah” and this is direct attempt to say the winner is not worthy enough. what is the consequences of this immature behavior? the winner will feel insecure, runner ups will hold a grudge and bottom of the score table will… Read more »

Oxana,
Rusforever didn’t comment on mariam …..he commented on the voting process and he is right. Also agree that the song is not worthy of a win but the singer is more than than worthy.

rusforever,

she won because she deserved to win. if you cannot understand why such song can win, maybe you should grow up, learn how to feel music with your heart. and of course you have to have a heart capable to feel such things. maybe that’s the reason of your ugly comment?

Still not over what happened to Macedonia. So unfair. The most unjust decision in ESC and JESC history. Heartbroken.

How do you know that it was made for Eurovision? There are other songs on her upcoming album that are under the 3-minute mark. I love “All for you”, though.

Alright! Now we need to wait for some of these countries to submit their bids for hosting next year’s Junior Eurovision! Since Georgia and Armenia are neighbors, maybe they could try submitting theirs first! There’s still a long way to go until next year. So tsarmatebebi, Sak’art’velo, and hajoghut’yun Hayastan!
