“Paradise” lyrics – My First Band (Finland – UMK 2017)

Pop-rock group My First Band will compete in Finland’s Eurovision national final Uuden Musiikin Kilpailiu (UMK) 2017 with the song “Paradise”. The song is a cheerful pop tune where the singer alarmingly promises that he will “leave you paralysed/When I kiss your paradise”.

The song tells the story of a man who is in love with his bae — someone who perhaps has been putting up some resistance. He urges, “Baby don’t run, please baby don’t fight.”

While the song never elaborates as to what a “paradise” is, we can guess that it belongs to the same school of double entendre songwriting as lines like “going downtown”.

The chorus has the cheerful request, “I wanna see you satisfied/So let me kiss your paradise”, but then takes things to a darker corner with the unusual claim that “Imma leave you paralysed/When I kiss your paradise”.

Let’s hope that My First Band’s seduction technique doesn’t require a trip to the emergency room!
