Lithuania’s national selection process Eurovizijos atranka 2017 continued this weekend with tonight’s second of four heats, which saw 13 participants sing their entries out. Last year’s finalist Ieva Zasimauskaite was among several familiar faces competing tonight alongside 2014 and 2015 finalist Mia. Both groups E.G.O. and Varjete even sung an entry named “My Story”. Awkward.

After all 13 participants performed and the results were announced, Mia advanced to the semi-final as tonight’s winner, and will be joined by Kotryna Juodzeviciute, Gabrielius Vagelis, Valdas Lacko, Ieva Zasimauskaite and E.G.O.

Eurovizijos atranka – Heat two running order

E.G.O. – “My Story”

Monee – “Nnn”

Varjete – “My Story”

Gabrielius Vagelis – “Feel Myself Free”

Ieva Zasimauskaite – “You Saved Me”

Rugile Daujotaite – “Perkune ugniaveidi”

Mia – “Sacrifice”

Deividas Žygas – “Only You”

Rasa Kaušiute – “Fly”

Gabriele Vilkickyte – “Jura”

Lawreigna – “Freedom”

Kotryna Juodzeviciute – “Love Shadow”

Valdas Lacko – “It’s So Unfair”

Nothing special. The first heat was way better than this one. The only interesting song was Gabriele’s Jura. Shame it didn’t go further. Can’t stand that Mia is being so overrated again. Her song is so boring, there’s nothing interesting about it.

Mia’s Sacrifice reminds me of “Boom” from Emmy at the start, I’m sure that’s not good. I can’t stand ‘Sacrifice’ nor the voice of Mia, so it’s a NO for me! Kotryna staging gives me ‘Rhythm Inside ft. If Love Was a Crime’ vibes, but the song, even it has potential it’s not that good. Gabrielius Vagelis, I want him in the final. Since he starts singing he catches me, what a beautiful voice! But then those guitars come and I like to broke them and listen only to his voice. I hope he revamps the song and gives it… Read more »

Totally agreeing with mocosuburbian and mawnck. Mia and Valdas Lacko (and a little less EGO) might be “stars” out there (getting votes no matter what they send), but their songs at ESC would do practically nothing. Worth mentioning that Ieva and Gabrielius got songs from Lithuanian authors (unlike Mia). Point is, for the Lithuanian “atranka” to be successful (as Supernova and Eesti Laul), they should rely a little more on local authors and music industry, instead of importing foreign product, making these acts seem like MF/MGP-discards. Otherwise, it’d be such a shame that acts like Gabriele, Rugile (even Dagna or… Read more »

How did Love Shadow win the televote? That song is completely atrocious (but not as much as Paula’s song from last week). Sacrifice is the best song in the competition so far, the juries are truly helping in this selection.

Good heavens, was that EGO song written by robots? In the world of formulaic songwriting, that’s the discount-store bare-bones model. Mia had a very nice chair, a very nice outfit, and a competent performance, but the whole thing is the dictionary definition of fanwank. The song is dull, and would be blown off the stage by the countries that are actually good at this. Calling it now: This is your “surprise nonqualifier” if they send it to Kyiv. As for the televote going to Kotryna – Go home, Lithuania, you’re drunk. She sings flat, and that outfit is stupid. And… Read more »

I’m Spanish, yet I’m also a Lithuanian selection fan since 2006. I always wanted to comment and now seems my time. My favorites in this round have been both in Lithuanian. It’s a shame that the only song in the entire selection is just the one I liked the least. However, I should admit the fair position of Kotryna and Mia (even the last one seems a bit overrated). EGO had a fair qualification too, as well as Gabrielius and Ieva. The one I liked the least was Valdas. I’m afraid that Lithuania has been always selecting the singer, without… Read more »

Sacrifice sounds a bit like a Melodi Grandprix reject. Boring. Next.

@ lol
It reminds me of Elena – Romania 2009 too, I am sure that many will like her in the competition in Kiev. ESC just loves that diva style, and I mean it in a good way.

Ooo. Mia was actually really good!! Bringing the Madonna realness, without falling down the stairs. 🙂
And that’s not a bad song either – good use of the rythmns to carry through the lyrics in the chorus. Po-ten-tial!

You develop a song and put up a performance. And all you get in return are 42 to 525 votes from people back home.

Gabriele Vilkickyte joins Petunija / Mick Pedaja / MNTHA although her loss was kind of fair / Riga Metro in the Baltic artists-that-were-wronged-for-being-super-futuristic-and-dark club

i weep for them every year 🙁
