tayanna ukraine NF

Eurovision 2017 host country Ukraine has already revealed its 24 semi-finalists for the national selection. However, only some of the artists have decided to share information about their songs.

Among them is Tatyana Reshetnyak, who fans may recognise as a former member of the female pop group “Goryachiy shokolad” (“Hot Chocolate”). In 2014 she failed to pass the blind auditions of The Voice of Ukraine. But a year later she managed to sing her way to the final, where she ultimately finished as runner-up. She was coached by Ukrainian singer, composer and producer Potap.

Now, as she heads into Ukraine’s Eurovision selection, Tatyana has been reborn as TAYANNA. The capital letters suggest her seriousness of intent. “I want to start this journey with a new stage name given to me by Alan Badoev,” she said in a statement sent to wiwibloggs. Badoev, of course, is a famed music video director who has worked with artists including Markus Riva, Sergey Lazarev and Polina Gagarina.

She will perform a song called “I Love You”, an English version of her song “Osen” (Autumn), which comes from her debut EP “TAYANNA: Portraits”. Tatyana wrote the music and lyrics, and Max Barskih produced the track. Max also adapted the lyrics from Russian into English.

Here’s the clip of the original version of “Autumn”, which has been viewed more than one million times.

“I really hope that the song ‘I Love You’ will awake an echo in women’s hearts all over the world,” she said.

“This piece is my private story but it is also familiar to all of us. Don’t let the melancholic memories let you down, whatever it takes! You have to move on, stay strong and bring love to the world!”

TAYANNA, in collaboration with pianist Evgeny Khmara, will create an instrumental cover of her song for the national selection. The idea was born during rehearsals as she was carried away by the sound.

I listened to all the pre selection but this power ballad “I Love You” struck me the most..The ukrainian version is even better. This year it’s all about ballads, but i don’t mind that as long as we have these quality ballads. Want this at Eurovision so bad…pls Ukraine! I trust in you

This is a good song, but come as too shouty, and after 2:35 it becomes senseless, just sounds cried out.

This song is GREAT. Really tough pick between this and ILLARIA’s “Thank you for my way”. They are both such great songs but both very different. ILL ARIA and Tayanna will definitely be in the final of the NF and both seem to be the two most likely contestants to represent Ukraine. Hope you cover ILLARIA as well, and may the best song win!

In my opinion this song is boring. Russian version is better than English.

I’m with Illaria, amazing song. Tayanna has a great voice but even though the song is good, it does nothing to me.

I hoped for a catchier “singing pants” song, but well it’s ukraine, would they win the NF it would get a complete à-la-Mika-Newton makeover ^^

@IB
why they can’t make their relation public now? what they are afraid of? especially in Ukraine. I never made my relations as secret ones (because I want to be honest with myself and with my family & friends) and I’m still alive and doing well. I’m pretty sure they keep their secret because of their own issues, not because of the country

I think she should go for the Ukrainian version but maybe include an English chorus towards the end. I was very happy when I saw she was competing b/c I’ve been a fan of Osen. But damn if this girl kills this live Ukraine will at least top 5.

Alan and Max make a great team. Look what they have created, such a master-piece. Tayanna has amazing voice. I love this creation, I will vote for you.
Special greetings to Max and Alan, love you guys. Tayanna is your lucky ticket, don’t let her down. (I have a dream, that one day, you two will make a big difference for LGBT people in Ukraine by making your relationship public, with great proud for who you are, and you’re the greatest, with deep respect to you two)?

I think this is good. Everybody’s saying it can’t win but honestly, in this day and age, a host country Can’t win . Just look at Germany when they sent Lena in 2011. It’s more important that Ukraine puts on a good show. But I’m sure that this can safely place within the televote. As a Ukrainian, I like the Ukrainian version a bit better but at Eurovision the English is a better choice

She’s a solid pick, although I don’t think she will win. But the original version is better, to be honest

This is your regular power diva ballad, but what really excites me is the singer, she’s really good!

nice girl with nice voice, I liked her songs during Voice. However I have a feeling she won’t win. There’s Illaria who can win this time. My bet is on Illaria as a winner of NF this year (song demo)

She’s RedcoAt!! lol

Kidding aside, I like her song better in its original language than the Anglicized one.

What a powerful song.
If sent to eurovision this could easily be top 5 and has the potential for top 3.

As we always know Ukraine gets staging and with great staging this might challenge for victory.

That song is outstanding, she has all it takes to keep the Ukrainian top 10 tradition going.

Tayanna is the main favorite of Ukrainian selection so far. But we are still waiting for releasing songs from other strong contestants this year: Vivienne Mort, Panivalkova and Rozhden.
Our musical producer of selection tells that 6 or 7 songs can win. And the level of songs is not lower than it was last year. The competition will be very intensive and interesting! And we expect to get top-3 in the final on our home-ESC 🙂

it’s a nice song but i prefer listening to the other finalists first. ukraine national final can be quite competitive and i hope this year all entrants will try extra hard to represent their country in home turf.

Imo this would be the best song to be sent from a previous winner since Azerbaijan and Sabina Babayeva back in 2012.. Fingers crossed..

Ooo, chills. Her voice reminds me of Elhaida Dani from Albania. The song is quite an ordinary-sounding slow power driver, but the voice on the track sells it very well.
Ukraine always seems to have a knack for sending really good female vocallists, and this is definitely in that class. It’s not at Jamala’s level though; the song is too ordinary-sounding.

Not bad. While I can’t say that this can give Ukraine a back-to-back win, it will definitely keep Ukraine inside the Top 5 which is okay for a host country. It would be more shameful to see a host country on the bottom *cough* Austria 2015 *cough*
