UMK 2017 final running order Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu

It is heating up in Helsinki! Finland will choose their Eurovision 2017 representative this Saturday, January 28 at UMK 2017. The winner will be chosen by the Finnish public together with ten international juries. Finnish broadcaster YLE today announced which countries are taking part in the international jury vote. We now also know the running order for the ten finalists.

There will be ten international juries made up of music professionals, journalists, Eurovision fans and just normal members of the public. The juries come from Finland’s bordering countries Norway, Sweden and Estonia. Big-5 countries Spain, United Kingdom and France also feature. Finally, there’s the Eurovision 2017 host country Ukraine as well as Iceland, Israel and Latvia.

Fan favourite Emma will open the show with “Circle of Light“. Don’t worry if you’re a big Emma fan, though: Softengine opened UMK in 2014 and went on to win! My First Band will close the show with “Paradise“.

UMK 2017: final running order

  1. Emma – “Circle Of Light
  2. Alva – “Arrows
  3. Günther & D’Sanz – “Love Yourself
  4. Anni Saikku – “Reach Out For The Sun
  5. Knucklebone Oscar & The Shangri-La Rubies – “Caveman
  6. Norma John – “Blackbird
  7. Lauri Yrjölä – “Helppo elämä
  8. Club La Persé – “My Little World
  9. Zühlke – “Perfect Villain
  10. My First Band – “Paradise

As well as the ten finalists performing, there will be some guest artists on stage too. Norwegian pop duo Marcus & Martinus and Finnish star Jenni Vartiainen will be performing. The final will once again be hosted by fan favourite Krista Siegfrids. Mikko Silvennoinen will serve as the commentator for the night.

Mikko will also host UMK17: Etkot (which means pre-party) from Thursday to Saturday. On Thursday’s pre-party show at 17:00 CET they will show off the UMK stage. They’ll also reveal the results of the online pre-vote. These votes will then be added to the public votes during the live show. It’s our first chance to see who might be in the lead with the Finnish fans!

Are you excited for UMK? Do you think the running order favours one act over the other? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below!

Anni Saikku has a great spot because she has to beform before and after a bad song! The people will think it’s fresh and nice and vote for her!

I personally wouldn’t mind “Paradise” for Eurovision but I would much rather wanna see “Circle of Light” winning tomorrow.

I was worried about the running order, but now I think I got it.

They put Emma first to have the audience connected since the beggining. Being first, she can show that she is better than any other act and people will vote for her insistently.

I prefer to think this way. Please, Finland, vote for it!

The best four songs played first and the worst ones at the end. Guess that means I can catch up on some laundry!

“Circle Of Light” or “Helppo elämä” for me and no one else!

“Circle Of Light” would be a secure choice while “Helppo elämä” is more different and original. I also want to hear some finnish at Eurovsion!

Wait… JENNI VARTIAINEN? Now that’s good news. Her albums are all incredible. I knew there was something good coming along with this show, I don’t know why this article’s author put the accent on those two kiddos when the ultimate textbook definition of TALENT is performing!

Why does the show look suspiciously rigged in favor or My First Band, though? Not only the song has disgusting lyrics, but it’s also… you know… a copy of whatever Denmark sent in 2015 and 2016 and failed to qualify with? Finland hasn’t been in the final since 2014, wyd lol

I don’t think that tragic running order will affect the results much, Emma stands out anyway. As if this show wasn’t messy enough, they make perform those two… okay Finland.

I think the more relevant precedent to remember is when Siru went first in the running order in her semifinal in 2015. That is, if anything at all is off about Emma’s performance, it will be magnified by the draw. And that’s what I’m worried about.

Well, that’s a good sign that Emma’s leading the pre-vote….let’s hope it’s same for Saturday’s live tele-vote. With the international juries this time around, not so concerned that Finland will pull a “Finland” and send MFB or something mediocre!
Go, Emma!! #circleoflight #teamemma 😀

Remember guys, this year Finland is including a proper international jury. Traditionally juries are less swayed by running order, more likely to consider individual performances.

And as Sami notes, Softengine performed first in the 2014 national final and still went on to win it.

I don’t even want to watch this show. It’s Finland!!! Of course they will go for something totally random as always they do.

Eurovision fan vote for Ema in pre vote . But eurovision fans is small percent of entire finsih public who can vote in final and plus we have juries.
Same result we have on wiwibloggs to Ema to won. And every year we have poll who wili win at Eurovisino and alwas in top on this sites is same countries and sometime they flop so hard in Eurovision.

Lauri was NINTH in the pre-vote?!! Ouch!!
Congratulations to Emma with a decisive victory in the pre-vote.
I’m very scared to see My First Band in second; that gives them a really good chance of winning overall.

And also, the stage is great. Emma had a lot of fire, a one fire circle around her There was a hologram circle of light as well.

Emma won the pre-vote with 30,4% of the votes. My First Band was second with 15%. The full results you can find here: http://yle.fi/aihe/artikkeli/2017/01/26/emma-voitti-umk17-ennakkoaanestyksen

Finnish public, vote for Emma! Do everything you can to prevent MFB from winning!

Surely the international juries can’t have that bad a taste in music as the Finnish community?

If Emma gets beaten by MFB, I am NEVER trusting this selection again.

Well… it IS Finland, aka ”Great Line-Up Terrible Pick Festival”, so I am just going with expectation of them choosing Paradise or My Little World and I’ll be pleasantly surprised if it’s anything else.

But seriously, 6 out of 10 songs are great, so WHY ON EARTH would they choose Paradise or My Little World???

D

Running order doesn’t matter in a final of 10 songs lmao, performing first isn’t gonna change whether Emma wins or loses and performing last won’t change My First Band’s position either.

Putting Emma and Alva one after the other and at the very start of the show has effectively killed off the chance of either of them winning, they’ll split any votes they get, should they perform well enough. My First Band have been given a huge advantage, especially given the two acts going before them, and given they’ve supposedly won the online vote, it looks like YLE, for whatever reason, want them to win, and are in a great position to do so. At this stage, the only other songs strong enough to win and in a relatively good position… Read more »

If Finland wants to have an actual chance of winning ESC or entering Top 10, they will pick Blackbird, Love Yourself or Circle of Light.

If Finland wants to probably enter finals, but gamble the chances of the left part of the scoreboard, then they will pick Arrows, Perfect Villain or Helppo Elama.

If Finland wants to stay in the semi, they’ll pick Reach Out for the Sun or Paradise.

If Finland wants to have a nil point locked-in, then they’ll pick My Little World or Caveman.

Lauri, Emma or Norma John are the only reasonable choices here

And then Emma, the fan favourite, is performing first… Does Finland want to minimize the chances of Emma winning, so that My First Band can triumph easier?

Club La Perse is going to win!!. I hope international jurys don`t destroy competition. Club La Perse is only one to select, all others are waste of time and below mediocre.

My favorite is Norma, only with her FInland have chance to be in TOP 10 in Eurovoison final. With favorite from this and other sites Emma, Finland will be Iceland and Malta 2015, hot favorite who are flop one in semi, and one in final.

Colin

My favorites and oddmakers favorites are Circle of Life, Blackbird and Love Yourself. Interestingly, none of them is near the end. Maybe the order doesn’t do much in Finland? Maybe UMK wants to equalize the chances of all songs, putting them roughly in the reverse order of odds?

However, if a song near the end must win, please let it be Zuhlke and not Club Le Perse or My First Band.
