She’s the Eurovision champion who is making a return to Melodifestivalen 2017. Now, ahead of her semi-final four appearance at Melfest, Loreen has confirmed that she identifies as bisexual.
Loreen shares the news on tonight’s episode of Swedish interview series Renées brygga (Renee’s bridge).
Host Renée Nyberg brings up the subject of sex. Loreen tells her, “Many are too damn focused on sex, sexuality. Love is so much more.”
She goes on to explain, “I usually say ‘love is where you find it’. That makes you bisexual? Yes, actually. Then I may say that I’m there, simply.”
Loreen would not say if she was in a relationship, but said, “I have no lack of love, so to speak.”
But busy with her Melodifestivalen preparations, Loreen explained, “I am married to the job right now. We’ll see what happens, but I’m not alone, so to speak.”
The news follows Melfest stars Oscar Zia and Viktor Frisk, who both recently came out.
Loreen will make her Melodifestivalen comeback on 25 February. She’ll perform her song “Statements” in the fourth semi-final. The song is said to have a radically different sound from the Eurodance style of “Euphoria”. Rumours suggest that “Statements” has a punk sound and is reminiscent of ’90s grunge rockers Nirvana.
Meanwhile, the first heat of Melodifestivalen 2017 will take place this Saturday. The first seven acts will battle it out live from Gothenburg.

Good for her but why announcing it now before MF? Anyway, i love her she is a lovely artist but i feel a bit weird with her comeback. She had a massive chance to enjoy a successful career in Europe and maybe outside Europe with Euphoria and My Heart is Refusing Me but she disappeared. What a shame… so many wrong decisions. What is it with Mello stars coming out as gay or bisexual just before the contest. Oscar Zia, and Viktor Frisk now Loreen.
But like Robyn said, while Sweden is one of the most open countries in the world, others aren’t, our host comes to mind. So being a great advocate will help those all over the continent.

With his “pornopics” that leaked yesterday he defenitivly confirmed if he’s straight, bi- or homosexual.. I think that if it happens around Melfest it’s just because there’s more attention then.

As for all saying it’s only publicity how about actually watching the whole thing before speaking?
The program was filmed back in June, way before any thoughts of MF. It’s not like it was filmed yesterday and Loreen did it intentionally.
Loreen doesn’t need any publicity to compete. She’s freakin Loreen, the name alone was enough to give it attention and publicity.
It would be news if she was gay. But bisexual? For a girl? Pretty common. Definitely not a big thing.

Is anyone actually surprised by this announcement?? it wasn’t that unexpected. It’s Loreen, it would be more surprising if she was straight. It’s strange she didn’t come out a long time ago, considering some of the things she said in the past.
