Melodifestivalen 2017 kicked off over the weekend, and although Ace Wilder and Nano are going direkt til final, their songs won’t hit the radio or the charts until after Andra Chansen on March 4. That’s because SVT wants to create a level playing field for all of the acts whose songs won’t be heard until their semi-finals later this month.

The same isn’t true for eliminated acts Dinah Nah and Adrijana, and Andra Chansen contenders Boris René and De Vet Du who are already scaling Sweden’s Spotify Top 50 and the country’s iTunes charts.

Melodifestivalen Acts In The Spotify Top 50

The highest Spotify entry comes from YouTube group De Vet Du, whose upbeat entry “Road Trip” has zoomed into pole position (among Melfest Semi-Final 1 acts at least) at Number 3 with 169,495 streams. The boys are followed by Boris René at 28 (70,031) with “Her Kiss”, Dinah Nah at 39 with “One More Night” (58,629 streams) and Adrijana with “Amare” at 49 (47,307 streams). Between them the acts have clocked up almost 350k streams since the songs were released to Spotify on Saturday night.

What about Charlotte Perrelli?

Three-time Melfest entrant and two-time Melfest winner Charlotte Perrelli returned on Saturday night too, with the stripped back guitar ballad “Mitt Liv”, but placed seventh in the final.

Adding insult to injury, Charlotte’s entry has also failed to make the Spotify Top 50.

All change on iTunes

It’s a different story for the class of Melodifestivalen 2017 on iTunes Sweden.

In that chart, Dinah Nah leads the pack at #3, Boris follows at #4, De Vet Du are at #8, Adrijana at #12 and Charlotte Perrelli close behind at #13.

That’s better news for the Melfest acts, but it should be noted that Spotify is far more influential in Sweden, with streaming driving 80% of record sales in 2015.

To be honest, I think Ace Wilder is being a bit too overrated by several people. 🙁 I was sad to find that Adrijana didn’t make it, and I think both her and Dinah Nah should’ve replaced Boris and De Vet Du for Andra Chansen. I was a tad disappointed at the results of this first heat, and I’m excited enough for the second heat :D.

I actually think Charlotte’s song was beautiful. It just needed some tweaks. You guys are being a bit harsh.

Dinah Nah performed on the night like she was bored and just practicing. Going through the motions and nothing more. No fire at all.

Charlotte Perrelli has been to Melfest many times now but always with fire and heart. She completely rocked her offering.

Shame some of the Swedes can be so heartless about their compatriot Charlotte.

Most people elsewhere treat their has-been stars and winners with respect even if it’s no longer contemporary what they do.

Look at Bonnie Tyler she was a massive has been, a big star, did not do well at Eurovision but loved and respected no less.

Ed Sheeran rules every chart because his bland and inoffensive muzak appeals to the the broadest possible demographic – lazy listeners who can’t be bothered to dig a little deeper and unearth other music they might enjoy, but are happy to take what’s spoonfed to them by the commercial market. Which is not to say I dislike Ed Sheeran, he seems nice, but…not for me. As for Charlotte Perrelli, no matter how many records she sells or how many streams her new song gets, she is still a major talent and has 10X the amount of star quality Ed Sheeran… Read more »

LOL – Notice how Ed Sheeran rules every chart! 😀
I’m happy that Dinah Nah is doing well, and I’m still upset about that 5th place. Not cool!

She’s not allowed to release it yet. Direkt till Finalen acts can only release their songs after the final. So you want get Ace or Nano’s songs for five weeks.

Charlotte isn’t on the list because Mitt Liv is not on Spotify. For some reason she hasn’t released it. Either she was cocky and it’s been arranged to release it after the final or I don’t know what. But it’s not there if you search for the song or go on her personal page.

I am a bit surprised Adrijana didn’t qualify, her song was the most original and the most current vocal and sound on the night. I do have to admit her staging could have been better but with the right staging it had potential. I disagree with Denis on here i like Charlotte’s stripped back song “Mitt Liv” Her voice was just perfect. The rest on the night were less original in my opinion. Ace Wilder is so overrated. So yes i am a bit disappointed with the chosen acts.

Of course robbed queen Dinah Nah is on top, I can’t stop listening to her fantastic song. I hope she will come back next year.

@Polegend Godgarina

The songs of the direct finalists don’t get released until after Andra Chansen.

Why hasn’t Ace Wilder released her song yet on iTunes/Spotify?

You sure love Perrelli, seeing how you focus so much on her. She’s a has-been and this new style changes nothing. The album will flop!

The Andra Chansen entries shouldn’t be released until the Andra Chansen show. It’s kind of unfair.

Regarding Charlotte, there’s not much to say. lol.
