They won Eurovision 2011 for Azerbaijan as Ell & Nikki.
But apart from the occasional reunion, Eldar Gasimov and Nigar have each paved distinct solo careers for themselves. And coincidentally, they both have new music out at the moment.
The former is urging us to “Tell Me About Love“, while the latter wants us to “Sus” (translation below).
Message from Eldar
Eldar “Tell Me About Love”
Eldar has pains. The poor guy is suffering. He can’t breathe and needs love — volunteers please form a queue.
“I will wait for you to come back and kiss my pain away”, Eldar sings.
“I’m sharing my whole true life story and love story”, the Eurovision winner tells wiwibloggs.
The Azeri singer penned the lyrics himself, while Orhan Baghirov worked on the production side of things.
As he delivers a love song in English, Eldar already has an Azeri version of “Tell Me About Love” ready to go. We can expect it to land soon.
At the press conference for the song’s release, Eldar answered the media’s questions.
Unsurprisingly, the topic of Eurovision arose.
Talking to OTV. az, he says “I think I am enough with contests. I mean I have done with Eurovision and I am looking for something new for my career, like new music. So my time won’t be wasted.” We’ll keep our fingers crossed nonetheless.

Nigar Jamal “Sus”
As she proved with her last single “Cagiran da Ürekdi“, Nigar Jamal is an expert when it comes to serving Azeri realness through song.
On “Sus“, which literally translates as “Shut Up“, Nigar is tired of hearing lies.
“Shut up, stop telling lies. You are not the one who stays. When we come to face to face, don’t recognize me. Now we are on different ways”, she sings
She is sure as death!
Unlike her Eurovision entry “Running Scared”, this track oozes Azerbaijan — from the producers to the lyrics to the music video.
In the clip, Nigar gives us maximum traditional sartorial glamour. Loving it!

It took Eldar Gasimov 6 years to finally bring in something musically convincing and really good after so many failed attempt at amateurish-dance-pop-r&b-esque crappy songs. I can finally see the quality in his voice in a song like this …
