Kerli spirit animal Eesti Laul 2017

Time to get in touch with your wild side. The second semifinal of Eesti Laul – Estonia’s national selection show for Eurovision — is on from 20:35 CET this evening. We asked you back in December to vote for your favourite act in the show’s second heat. With 2,849 votes cast in the poll, we can reveal that Kerli has come out on top with her song “Spirit Animal“.

Kerli’s tribal-electro song took 990 votes – over a third of all counted – putting her well clear of the rest of the field. The bookmakers are marking her as favourite to win the show overall as well. Our Wiwi Jury thinks she’s in with a good shot too, rating her a 7.03 overall. wiwiblogger Chris writes:

We all know that we’re waiting for Kerli to perform this with full staging. With everything together, it could be something truly special. Is it a Eurovision winner? I’m not sure. Top 10? Definitely.

In second with 619 votes (just under 22%) are the duo Koit Toome & Laura with “Verona“. Their duet, telling us about lost love, is holding strong as second with the bookies.

In our interview with Laura, she gives us a clue about the song’s staging for tonight. “The best clue is the word ‘memories’. Something that is so real, it’s in our minds, but the physical side is missing.”

The acts are really feeling their spiritual side tonight!

Coming in third place is Liis Lemsalu with “Keep Running“. She received 340 votes, roughly 12% of all votes cast. Liis is on her fourth attempt to represent her country at Eurovision — will she finally get lucky?

With five qualifiers, the next acts you’d most like to see make it through are Angeelia with “We Ride With Our Flow” and returnee Daniel Levi with “All I Need“.

I used to tune in pretty late. With that, Antsud was heartwarming and slayed. Unexpectedly for me 🙂 Can’t wait for results, but so far with pre-shoots I suppose not that good visuals for super-duo, which is another unexpected point…

I am crossing my fingers for Rasmus, since I really want to see him live, but I´m cool, if he doesnt go to the final. but it is a song I would listen to with or without Eesti Laul.

starting to like Kerlis´ song a bit more, but I dont think it is her strongest.

would have wanted NOEP to participate.

Liis is pretty, the song is generic.

Kerli will win this semi-final and the whole contest easily. Her song is unique and it stands out. Her staging is going be spectacular.

Laura & Koit have a beautiful song, but their staging looked boring on the snippet..So it’s a no for them…

I don’t really like the studio version of Kerli’s song, but in the recap of the rehearsals we saw last week, her performance looked very promising.

I’ve just seen the running order. Not good for Kerli and Laura & Koit. Who thought of putting them first and second in the running order? You read right… Verona opens and Spirit Animal is in a ‘deathspot’! However, I have sincere hopes this won’t affect their results as they are among the favorites overall. On the other hand, things seam good for Rasmus, as he is put 8th, followed by the weakest song (Make love, not war). I think this increases the chances of him being in the final, maybe even winning. Angeelia also has a really nice song… Read more »

Kerli is definately the best entry of the whole Eesti Laul? Haven’t you seen the snippets of her 0erformance yet?

My wishes for this semi include Kerli, Rasmus and Laura/Koit being the finalists. I don’t know about the other two, since several songs are good.

This is such a tough Semi Final! There is going to be a big upset, whatever happens. Kerli is outstanding, Liis is great, Rasmus is amazing, Daniel is sexy and popular, Koit & Laura are supersonic, and Angeelia is mesmerising. One of these six is gonna be a non-qualifier!! I know, it’s tragic! I have a bad feeling that Angeelia might get cut from this list unless she does something creative with the staging… but we’ll see. Could any of the bottom four surprise us? Yes. There is some good music here too – I can see Antsud doing well,… Read more »

I like Kerli, it’s unique and modern. Could it do well at Eurovision? Probably. I’d be happy if she went, but I feel more of a connection to Koit and Laura, therefore, I’m backing them.

Definitely think in the end it’ll be between Kerli and Koit/Laura.
