Sunstroke Project

Now that’s what you call epic. After getting the thumbs up from the Wiwi Jury, Sunstroke Project have done it again with the popular vote. By a Moldovan landslide, “Hey Mamma” is our readers’ favourite song to win tonight’s semi-final of O melodie pentru Europa 2017. With almost 45% of the votes, Epic Sax Guy & Co. have captured your heart and have run away with it.

Over the last month, 1,232 votes have been cast in Moldova‘s poll, and 551 of them went to Sunstroke Project’s comeback single “Hey Mamma”. With 44.72% of the votes (to be exact), they are the undisputed winners of our poll. The band has been emerging as the front-runner in the semi-final and, by all indicators, Saturday’s national final too.

Our Wiwi Jury also puts Sunstroke Project on top, with an overall score of 7.67. As William says:

“Mamma mamma don’t be so down” is one of the best phrases of this year’s selection season. Probing the most complicated of relationships, the lead singer seeks approval from his disapproving mother-in-law, who seems to cast a very long shadow over his love life. Thankfully his mom can be proud he’s brought one of the few remotely current songs to Moldova’s selection.

Trailing behind with 174 votes, around 14% of the total, Ethno Republic & Surorile Osoianu were your second favourite to win tonight’s semi-final with “Discover Moldova”.

“Discover Moldova” was our Wiwi Jury’s second choice as well, with a score of 6.87. Jason praises them:

“Discover Moldova” is one of the best entries in O melodie pentru Europa 2017. The fusion of traditional musical elements with modern beats works really well here, and I think it would go down a storm with the Eurovision audience.

With just under 12% of the total votes, strong>Vozniuc feat. Vio Grecu takes third place in our poll with “Don’t Lie”.

“Don’t Lie” is also the Wiwi Jury’s third option, with an overall score of 6.4 — total agreement, y’all! Luis was very excited with it:

Finally, Moldova! A song worth listening more than once! Vozniuc and Vio bring a dark and powerful song. It builds perfectly to a strong chorus which could work wonders live.

As only 8 out of the 14 competing acts are going through to the national final on Saturday, according to our poll, the readers expect THE ONE, Marks & Stefanet, Aurel Chirtoaca, Nadia Mosneagu, Big Flash Sound and Sergiu Punga to crash out of the contest. PS: Having been included last in the selection after Boris Covali withdrew, Sergiu only got one vote. Ouch.

Moldova’s sole semi-final starts tonight at 18:35 CET and will be broadcast live on Moldova 1 and online on the TRM website. You can check out the running order here. Eight acts will advance to tomorrow’s national final. Four of these finalists will be chosen by the jury. Then the public will have the opportunity to choose the remaining four acts.

In a bid to reduce corruption and manipulation of the televote, only one vote per telephone number will be allowed for each song. That marks a significant change from recent years.

In the national final, the winner will be determined by the standard 50% jury, 50% televote split.

Will you be watching tonight’s show? And what do you think about the poll results? Do you agree that Sunstroke Project should win the semi-final? Sound off below!

SunStroke Project for Kiev.
The other one, Ethno Republic is too serious, it does not have a twist like Buranovskie Babuski.

I agree with this poll result, that only first 2 song from poll, can give Moldova ticket to final at Eurovison and maybe TOP 10 in final
Many time polls on this bllogs overrated some singer and they flop in their nationa semi, final or flop in semi or final at Eurovision.
If I choose I choose my top 2 wil be first Ethno Republic & Surorile Osoianu thant Sunstroke project. I think that Ethno wili get more vote from juries than Sunstroke project and in televote maybe f sine ew points high wil get Sunstroke project thab Etnhno Republic.
