We are now only hours away from Sweden deciding its champion of Melodifestivalen 2017 and thus the artist and song they will be sending to the Ukraine to represent them at the Eurovision Song Contest.
All the acts are in a frenzy to get everything just right. Whether that’s tweaking choreography, adjusting the lighting…or, in some cases, swapping a frock for a sleek new pants-dress.
Wiktoria leads the pack going into tonight’s hotly contested final with her song “As I Lay Me Down”. In order to get a leg up on the others, she’s swapped dresses on us y’all! So, of course, we want to know which one you like better!
Our wiwibloggers are on the ground in Stockholm this week and were able to catch this shot of Wiktoria in her new outfit at Thursday’s rehearsal.
Rehearsal – Song number 10: @wiktoriajohansson with "As I lay me down". Wiktoria has made some changes for Saturday's final. She has get rid of her blue dress and now wears a red more daring outfit. She has also made some LED changes in her performance. #wiwibloggs #eurovisionsongcontest #eurovision #melodifestivalen2017 #melodifestivalen #friendsarena #svt #kiev #stockholm #sweden
During the fourth semi final, Wiktoria was saved by the voters and sent direkt til final. Fans went crazy about the upbeat radio-friendly song and her spot-on vocals. But a notable amount of vocal fans were not so crazy about Wiktoria’s dress. The breezy, toga-inspired frock didn’t seem to match the country vibe of the song, or Wiktoria’s vivacious presence on stage.
In a surprise change up at Thursday’s run through, Wiktoria came to the stage in a saucy red pants-dress. It fits her perfectly and comes across both sophisticated and sexy on stage. Her team also decided — at least for this rehearsal — to tie her signature platinum curls up into a bun, giving her a classy, more mature presence. From the color to the fit, Wiktoria is now dressed to slay hearts at Saturday’s final in Stockholm.
Swedish broadcaster SVT has also reported that subtle changes have been made to Wiktoria’s staging and special effects screens. At one point during the song she will lay down, with the shadow of her love as a world of flowers spins around her.
What do you think of the changes made? Well, you can vote on her new look in our poll below!
Odds-makers say Wiktoria is the one to beat with the song “As I Lay Me Down”. It’s a country-tinged pop number climbing the Swedish singles charts (currently at #3 on Sverigestopplistan at the time of this publication) and setting Spotify charts from Sweden to the UK ablaze with cowgirl charm. Even our Wiwi Jury gave it an impressive 7.6/10!
You can watch the final of Melodifestivalen 2017 live on Saturday evening at 20:00 CET. We’ll be bringing you all the action and interviews live from Stockholm. Let us know in the comments section below which your favourite dress is and if you think Wiktoria will win!
