In January ERT, the national broadcaster for Greece, announced that superstar Demy would represent the sunny nation at Eurovision 2017. A few short weeks later, we were treated to a national final of three songs and “This Is Love” came out on top.
In an effort to pick themselves up following their first non-qualification in 2016, Greece has opted for a ballad/dance track for Demy, showcasing her flawless vocals in what is bound to become a Euroclub favourite in Kyiv.
The “This Is Love” lyrics stem from a moment of heartbreak, and the desire to move on from a broken relationship. As she sings: “Holding on to what we had can be so complicated/could be time to move along and face, no more debating.”
On the flip side, there is a moment of hope and power in the chorus. As the text goes: “This is love/reaching out for the stars/you and me as one/everywhere, this is love”.
DEMY – “THIS IS LOVE”
“THIS IS LOVE” LYRICS
Holding onto what we had can be so complicated
Could be time to move along and face it, no more debating
Watch the river running dry
Now it’s time to say goodbye
There’s an echo in my head
There’s a story still unread
And I need you here tonight
Walk away, don’t turn around
I will never let you down
I won’t let you see me cry
There’s an echo in my head
There’s a crossroad up ahead
And I want you here
Forever and ever and ever and ever
I’m not giving up
This is love
Reaching out for the stars
You and me as one
Everywhere, this is love
This is love
Holding on to what we had can be so self-destroying
Remember how we laughed played around ’til night met the morning?
Watch the sunset in the sky
There will never be goodbye
There’s an echo in my head
There’s a story still unread
And I need you here tonight
Walk away, don’t turn around
I will never let you down
Now I want you here
Forever and ever and ever and ever
I’m not giving up
This is love
Reaching out for the stars
You and me as one
Everywhere, this is love
This is love
Reaching out for the stars
You and me as one
This is love
