Eurovision 2017 will mark Valentina Monetta‘s fourth participation in the contest. The Italo-Sammarinese singer is already a eurofan icon and she’s no doubt hoping to return with a bang to take her status even higher.

And helping her do that will be the American singer Jimmie Wilson, who lives in Germany. The couple will sing the explosive “Spirit of the Night”, a vintage track that mixes euro-dance, soul and disco with a clear touch of Ralph Siegel, who has once again penned the microstate’s entry.

In recent days San Marino RTV has started to promote their act, uploading the “making of” the official video, which includes brief interviews with both of the singers.

The clip — filmed by Siegel’s daughter Alana in Munich — shows what happened behind the scenes of “Spirit of the Night”.

The team spent one day at P1, a nightclub in the center of the German city, and worked with choreographer Regina Blum and a crew of young dancers. Valentina and Jimmie left their hearts — and plenty of sweat — on the dance floor and we cannot resist the rhythm of their track!

From San Marino RTV’s studios, Sammarinese HoD Alessandro Capicchioni reveals that we’ll see a simple performance in Kyiv in the spirit of a live concert. But, matching the tone and vibe of their video, there will be energy and explosive sexual chemistry. On April 8 we’ll savour the first taste of their duet in Amsterdam at Eurovision in Concert.

“Vibrations are good, I’m on cloud nine, I still can’t believe it,” Valentina said at a recent press conference. “I hope everyone will be happy, for sure my Eurovision fans will be”.

Jimmie Wilson believes that fate has played a key role in the collaboration. “In Detroit, where I was born, there is a large community of San Marino emigrants,” he says. Who knew?!

He also shared the plot of the video in the behind-the-scenes clip.

“The video is about meeting a girl. They had eye contact and there was a little flirtation going on, but then she disappeared in the club. So he’s on this search.”

Will Valentina and Jimmie qualify for the final? Is “Spirit of the Night” the right song for San Marino? Tell us in the comments section or on our brand new app available on Google Play and Apple Store.

understand this topic. You understand so much its almost tough to argue
with you (not that I personally would want to…HaHa).
You certainly put a brand new spin on a topic that’s been written about for decades.
Wonderful stuff, just excellent!

@fikri: She means “vibes.” (Think Valentina-English instead of real English. 😉 )

Jimmie’s voice is great on the track – I’m surprised how few people have mentioned that! Y’all too distracted by Valentina or what? 😀

Come On !!! Cheesy. Of all the good singers in Italy surrounding San Marino and the offers the have had, they have gone for a cheesy song. It won’t qualify. At least from what I see in the video

I like Valentina, she’s come back to slay, not to play! She has a good chemistry with Jimmie. The song is a bit old fashioned, but come on…it’s not that bad. We’ve heard worse this year…. Hope to qualify, I’d be happy for Valentina, she totally deserves it!
