Two weeks ago he revealed that Hans Pannecoucke had joined the Spanish Eurovision team as its artistic director.

And on Tuesday Manel Navarro gave the first hints of what he and Hans have up their sleeves during an interview with Eurovision Green Room in People FM.

“I’m really happy,” Manel says of their partnership. “He’s a genius. Working with him is really cool. He has amazing ideas, some of them many people won’t even think of.”

Staging details

The duo are fully immersed in Manel’s stage show for Eurovision. While there’s still a long way to go, they already have the idea structured, though they haven’t yet finalised all the details.

Manel affirmed that there won’t be dancers on stage during his performance, as the song really doesn’t call for them.

Instead he’ll add intrigue through the visual effects, though he’s a bit reticent to reveal precisely how. There may not be dancers, but it appears there will be movement. “I won’t be standing the whole performance with a microphone stand and my guitar,” he said.

Following the recent Eurodrama crisis, Spain appointed two new Heads of Delegation for Eurovision — Ana María Bordás and Antonio Losada.

Manel has no complaints. He said: “They’re doing an all-out effort. In fact, they’re always saying ‘We’re all Manel.'”

During the Heads of Delegation meeting in the Ukrainian capital in March, Ana and María learned that one of Manel’s staging ideas won’t be possible due to the technical limitations of the stage.

But it’s not all bad news. Fans of Manel’s sensual and tropical shirts are in luck, as he plans to wear clothes that match the summery vibe of his tune.

“I will not be wearing a suit. It’s going to be more tropical and I would love to bring my guitar.”

Meeting Spain’s Eurovision stars

Not long after Objetivo Eurovision, Manel met Spanish sensation and Eurovision 2016 star Barei who gave him important advice. “Enjoy this once in a lifetime experience,” she said. “Ignore all the negativity and focus on having fun and your music.”

But there’s no negativity from Barei. The Spanish songstress recently said that she is loving Manel’s number.

“It’s really catchy and I love the idea of sending a male act,” she said. “Maybe we can do better by doing this change and by bringing something simpler.”

She stood up for Manel following the Eurodrama meltdown. “I think Manel is being bullied,” she said. “RTVE established the rules that they considered and once those rules are finally decided and he won following them, we should all support him.”

Manel has met other women of Eurovision, too. He recently shared this snap with ESC 2009 singer Soraya Arnelas.

Translation: Best thing about @Eurovision is sharing experiences and meeting wonderful people. Thank you @SorayaArnelas for last night and your advice.

Eurovision promotional tour

He once said he’ll do his best to promote his song — and he’s fulfilling his promise. He’s already sung live at the national selections in Ukraine and Romania, and now he’s set for preview events in  London, Amsterdam and Tel Aviv. He’s also attending at the ESPreParty in Madrid as the host act and in late April he’ll travel to Lisbon to present his song to the Portuguese audience.

The team from wiwibloggs will be on the ground filming footage of all the performances, as well as conducting interviews with the stars, at all of these events.

Apparently Manel has something cool coming up with Miss Lucie Jones from the United Kingdom. We can’t wait to hear what it is.

How do you picture Spain’s staging? Do you think Hans — who worked on The Common Linnets’ Eurovision stage show — will work the same magic on Manel? Share your thoughts with us in the comments section below and don’t forget to show off in our wiwibloggs app!

In my personal top he has a good place. He doesn’t need dancers, is not the song where some dancers start a salsa. I will laugh if he will do better than Pastora Soler (10).

Nice idea to avoid dancers. I hope they with use guitar players on stage, as did in the Spanish final. Singback or not, they always add a more authentic feel. At the end of the day, this is a SONG contest. So I love to see instruments on stage 🙂

I personally like the song, it’s in my top 10. Underrated I think. But each to his / her own.

Buena suerte Espana 🙂

Whit or without dancers, this will be a dreadful entry… Why is it that the big 5 (except for Italy) cannot put their act together?…

The pre-parties’ tour is going to start and all europe is going to see how unexperienced, lack of charism and green he is. Noone will save him from the bottom he deserves for both lack of qualities and the way he managed to represent Spain. And you’ll see how “promo” can be transformed into “antipromo” when you do promo tours when you actually dont have anything good to promote.
