Brendan Murray 2

Former boyband member Brendan Murray was announced as Ireland’s representative way back in December 2016. He kept up waiting for his song for some time though. We were dying to hear it by the time the song was announced: the love ballad, Dying to Try.

Ireland went for an internal selection this year – just like last year – and it was in the hands of The X Factor judge Louis Walsh to be in charge of Ireland’s act in Kyiv in May. Walsh opted for the 20 year old Brendan Murray – a former member of the boyband Hometown – to represent Ireland this year.

The song is written by Jörgen Elofsson and James Newman, and is a romantic mid-tempo ballad about taking a leap of faith and getting out of ones comfort zone when it comes to love.

“Dying To Try” – Brendan Murray

“Dying To Try” – Lyrics

Take a leap of faith with me
If you believe honestly
That I am yours and you are mine
I know you’re scared, and so am I’Cause I know that love can be so strong
And yet so frail
And there ain’t no guarantee
That you and me won’t fail

But I’m dying to try
I’m dying to try
I’ll keep you safe in my arms
Build a bridge to your heart every day

I’ll give you it all
But I’m not gonna lie
‘Cause no one can promise
That love will ever learn how to fly
Will ever learn how to fly, oh…

But I’m dying to try, but I’m dying to try
(‘Cause no one can promise)
(That love will ever learn how to fly) Yeah…

I’m dying to try, I’m dying to try
I’ll keep you safe in my arms
Build a bridge to your heart every day

I’ll give you it all
But I’m not gonna lie
Oh, ’cause no one can promise
That love will ever learn how to fly

Oh, ’cause no one can promise
That love will ever learn how to fly
But I’m dying to try
Take a leap if you believe
