lindita covers elhaida lidia isac falling stars im alive

She stormed into the hearts of Eurovision fans in 2014 with her crazy-yet-musical Festivali i Këngës 53 song “Ste fal”.

And on Thursday evening Albania’s Lindita Halimi reminded the world that she is a Eurovision fan herself with two very powerful covers — Lidia Isac’s “Falling Stars” (Moldova 2014) and Elhaida Dani’s “I’m Alive” (Albania 2015).

“‘I’m Alive’ is so dramatic and ‘Falling Stars’ stabs me in the heart,” Lindita tells wiwibloggs. “I poured myself into both of them and I hope you enjoy.”

Lindita covers Lidia Isac’s “Falling Stars”

Lindita may be known for those big notes and her ability to retain control while serving that fortissimo realness, but with “Falling Stars” she reminds you she can turn it down and give a quiet sound major power.

She slows down the euro-dance original and strips it back, creating a delightful acoustic version that relies on two ingredients: Lindita’s voice and sincere emotion.

The song stirs all sorts of moods and feelings, but to us it sounds like a mix of Hawaiian luau and Spanish siesta — but baby you will not fall asleep with this one.

Lindita covers Elhaida’s “I’m Alive”

“I’m Alive” is near and dear to Lindita’s heart: She penned the English-language lyrics for the song, which was sung at Eurovision 2015.

And you can tell she’s feeling every word as she weaves through this incredibly challenging tune, squeezing the most out of her voice as she nestles every peak and valley.

She even manages to hit that note — you know the one. And for good measure she takes the ending to another level. Just listen and you’ll hear what we mean. WOWZERS!

If I didn’t know the lyrics, I couldn’t figure out half of what she’s singing in both songs.

I really like she kept it down and simple in “Falling stars” at least in half the song.
Generally, I have the impression she’s trying to show her singing abilities. She’s like “See? I CAN SING!!”. That annoys me a little. Girl, we know you can sing!!

However, I still prefer the originals!

“Falling Stars” is really well done. She obviously does a good job on “I’m Alive” as well, but I actually prefer Elhaida’s original.

I totally agree. Lindita killed the high note and the ending to “I’m Alive” but I prefer Elhaida’s voice. She sounded great on “Falling Stars” though, much more natural.

Just me or she was tryharding trying to sound better than the originals? I found it quite annoying to be honest.
