Earlier in the week teenage girls did somersaults on beams and muscular men hurled themselves off of the vault. But on Sunday, at the end of the five-day European Men’s and Women’s Artistic Gymnastics Championships in the Transylvanian city of Cluj Napoca, Ilinca and Alex Florea took the floor for an energy-filled performance of their Eurovision song “Yodel It!” Helping bring the festivities to a close, the two singers really wowed the crowd with their vocal gymnastics.
The 7th edition of the Artistic Gymnastics Championships took place in the Romanian city of Cluj Napoca between 19-23 April.
Ilinca and Alex — Romania’s Eurovision 2017 stars — were the only act to entertain the crowd at the closing ceremony. Already on a high after Romania picked several medals at the European Gymnastics Championships, the home public was happy to show its full support for the young Eurovision hopefuls.
This marks the last time the Romanian duo of Ilinca and Alex will perform the song in front of an audience before departing for Kyiv next week. Romania’s first rehearsals are scheduled for 2 May.
The performance comes just days after Ilinca and Alex released the video for “Yodel It!”, which was also filmed in Cluj Napoca, Ilinca’s hometown. Since the video was released, Romania has advanced three spots in the odds and is currently sitting pretty as the tenth-most-likely act to win Eurovision. The video has also amassed more than 250,000 views on YouTube in just 48 hours, which is amazing for a Eurovision video.
After finishing their European promo tour and receiving such a positive sendoff, Ilinca and Alex head to Kyiv on a high. This bodes well for their chances to make their country proud at this year’s Eurovision Song Contest.
What do you think about the latest performance of “Yodel It!”? And what about Ilinca and Alex Florea’s chances to do well at Eurovision? Sound off below!
Oh hell, sorry – SUCH an ugly song. After the third or fourth yodel I started having a rash. The song gets a prize for being ULTRA annoying.
Sure it’s not the most professional song of contest. Sure there’s no strong lyrics or deep message. But it’s really catchy and totally not a typical Eurovision song. I would love to see how “Yodel It” gets votes in final from those viewers that haven’t hear anything else than song of their own country.
you don’t need a political message or a love story message, just a fun song
and crowd-pleasing this song really has the qualities for that, and that is also something professional 🙂
They are my guilty pleasure! Must tell that they were not my number one at the beginning… actually I did not like their song too much, but after the party from Amsterdam where I had the chance to see them live… they became my Number One ???????????? And Alex is my number one in my Eurovision Mister top ?
Really they live the happiness of singing and the joy of being on stage.
And nothing else matters, both for them and for us.
We, Yodel fans, are no longer interested in what kind of place they will occupy at ESC. We are pleased with their joy, happiness and youth.
Performing is definitely the right word for this since there’s no way they were actually singing lol. I hope they do well and qualify nevertheless; this was probably the best type of promotion they’ve done so far (even better than all the pre-parties)
This is crap. Its a silly song. I hope its not going to the final.
I have a very unpleasant news for you: Yodel It will be in Top 3 ESC 2017.
Ha, ha! Yeah!
its seems you hate every one this year.
pls tell me which singer you dont hate !
How beautiful!
Ilinca – a new Romanian Angelina Jolie and Alex awesome like a giaour Caid.
And the song grows and grows permanently.
What is differently qualitative, in a positive sense, it is heard in large spaces.
sidenote… God he’s cute!!
This song has really grown on me, bet they will do well
Romania will score better than Bulgaria this year. They even might for second place in the televoting. This song sets the crowds on fire.
OFF-TOPIC: Salvador sobral just came out as bissexual, saying that love has no gender.
He said that in an interview he gave togheter with Lena D’Água, some weeks ago, when both were questioned about love.
Would prefer if he was gay tho
ON TOPIC:
I think they absolutely slayed and hope they do well in Kiev…
OFF TOPIC:
I’m a starting YouTube channel about Eurovision (from Czechia) and it would be really awesome if you could check out my Top 42. Here’s the link! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sbUDD0_teMc&t=7s
Thanks!
Might be silly, but it’s funny and catchy.
A snippet of rehearsels of Belgium and Armenia had appeared. Look at the Eurovoix page!
nice performance, not their best though
but nice to be performing at a sports event 🙂
having said not their best performance, well it is a good performance at a sports event centre, which is more for sports and not music performances
and Ilinca looked like a fairy princess in that dress 🙂
