Eurovision 2017 odds April 27th Semi Final Two kostov

At just 17 years old, he’s the youngest competitor of the year.

But age hasn’t stopped the bookmakers from making Bulgaria’s Kristian Kostov their clear favourite to win Semi-Final Two of Eurovision 2017.

Unlike in the first semi-final, the bookies see Semi-Final 2 as an open and shut case when it comes to the win. It’s no big surprise. The overall odds have Kristian in second place, while no other song in the second semi is in the top five.

Best odds on a Bulgaria victory are 8/11 at Sky Bet — meaning you’d have to put a lot of money on to get anything good back, y’all!

Anyone who does fancy an outside bet may want to turn to the second favourite. That’s Hungary’s Joci Papai with his song “Origo”.

The bookmakers have Joci as good as 13/2, with his place in the running order of 7th perhaps being a factor here.

Once more, there’s quite a gap after Joci back to third, fourth and fifth. And it’s an eclectic mix.

Danish fans will no doubt be happy to see Anja Nissen (8/1, Sky Bet) so high in the odds after their lack of success in recent years.

Fourth goes to Romania’s Ilinca & Alex Florea with “Yodel It!” — perhaps one more for televoters than the jury. Their best odds are 9/1 at Sky Bet.

Finally, it’s Estonia’s Koit Toome & Laura in fifth, just behind at 10/1 (Bet365). Performing second to last in the semi-final, there’s a real chance that “Verona” could still be a dark horse.

Eurovision 2017: Semi-Final Two Odds (To Win)

Eurovision 2017 odds April 27th Semi Final Two

Semi-Final 2 (Odds to Qualify)

The “to qualify” odds don’t change much at the top, but the lower qualifiers do look different. It seems the bookmakers truly can’t make up their mind on which songs should occupy those final spots. At the moment they have Austria and Belarus battling for the tenth spot. They also think that Macedonia, Ireland, Croatia, Malta, Lithuania and San Marino are headed home.

Could we see a fan favourite unexpectedly leave the contest before the grand final? Let us know your thoughts below!

Odds aren’t always very accurate. They usually predict some or most of the countries. But I’ll make a comment on this subject. I believe juries will get behind acts like Bulgaria and Denmark (mostly about the vocal abilities of the artists). Televotes will most likely get behind favourite acts like Romania, Belarus, Estonia and Israel. But everything depends on the live perfromance! It’s more possible Bulgaria win the semi! I think it’s already a favourite, Kristian is a great performer and juries will appreciate it as well! As for the other odds (qualifiers) I’ll be honest: I would switch the… Read more »

Prediction for semi-final 2
01 Bulgaria | 02 Austria | 03 Denmark | 04 Romania | 05 Switzerland
06 Hungary | 07 Serbia | 08 Norway | 09 Lithuania | 10 Belarus
————————————————————————————–
11 FYR Macedonia | 12 Israel | 13 Estonia | 14 Ireland
15 Netherlands | 16 San Marino | 17 Croatia | 18 Malta

Surprises are Lithuania, FYR Macedonia and Estonia. Lithuania is either hate or love, no middle ground. FYR Macedonia is a train wreck live (unfortunately). Estonia, I have a feeling they are going to pull a Greta Salome

i’m saying Bulgaria, Romania, Israel, Estonia, Serbia, Croatia (only if Jacques really has a fun staging if he takes it too serious i don’t think Croatia will qualify), Netherlands ( i don’t like their approach for sympathy votes with their sick mom, but juries might score this enough to qualify)

and some borderline qualifiers for between Belarus, Denmark, Macedonia, Ireland and Norway i guess

overall i see about 4 quite open places about anyone can qualify i think

I feel like Israel will be the “surprise” non-qualifier. Despite being performed last, the song isn’t outstanding enough I guess? I’m not surprised Serbia is 11th. They have 36 automatic televote points from Switzerland, Croatia and Macedonia, plus some from Austria. That song is utterly insipid, and I just can’t picture it in the final. But maybe neighbors and migrants will be their saving grace. Remember their pathetic televote score last year? 12 – Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Montenegro, Macedonia (neighbors), Switzerland (immigrants) 4 – Italy, Austria (immigrants) Total: 80. In Too Deep is that type of song that… Read more »

I don’t understand why being second is bad. Are the viewers bored at that time? After the first song, are the viewers going to the toilet? Maybe yes, but I don’t understand and I believe the curse is not real.
IMO is bad to be the very last. The viewers know that is the last song and they are already thinking about votes.

Last is the best place, just look at the songs that were performed last in the televote era.
2004 – Sweden – 5th
2006 – Armenia – 8th
2007 – Moldova – 10th
2008 – Norway – 5th

They got many sets of 1 to 5 points from a lot of countries, which they wouldn’t have had, had they performed early.

No midtempo/uptempo song ever qualifies singing 2nd, that’s why.

Surprise doesn’t always mean good. Their 2016 staging was VERY good and they didn’t pass

This semifinal has a lot of good/ok/borderline songs, which makes this really hard to predict! Total guess here: Bulgaria, Romania, Estonia, Austria, Belarus Denmark, Hungary, FYROM, Switzerland, Norway ——- Serbia, Israel, Netherlands, Malta, San Marino, Ireland, Croatia, Lithuania Lithuania, Croatia, Ireland all no chance I think (sorry Irish fans!). San Marino I have this weird feeling can sneak through because of the Valentina/camp factor, after all Serhat got 12th with a worse song! I think Israel and Serbia could surprise and not qualify despite their order. Switzerland and Austria have each other and Germany. I think Nathan and Naviband are… Read more »

Wow, I totally agree, only swapping Austria and the Netherlands (I feel like Holland will be appreciated by the juries and by Eastern countries).

Actually it isn’t because of my personal preference. I’d like to see Ireland back in the final, but I just suspect he will not get the votes people are expecting.

Much of Hungary’s song is about god which is a bit creepy.

In what way? Not only is it about God but his life growing up as a minority in Hungary and facing racial discrimination. A lot of famous musicians made a good living singing songs about God.

I’d say you need to wait until rehearsals start before these companies start showing their odds as let’s face it, anyone betting could have inside information on planned staging that could elevate a song and when there are 10 spots available to qualify that is quite a risk. Sky bet seem to be the only company offering odds yet the outright it’s like 10+

Cathal
Cathal

The qualify section isn’t as reliable imo as you literally have only one company offering odds, Ireland for example are 5th last yet in the overall market with a whole load of betting company offering odds they are 14th overall.

This is a very open semi so staging and vocals on the night is gonna be crucial. Denmark is definetly too high in the odds but I reckon the odds will change completely with next week’s rehearsals. I’m not gonna even try predict a top 10 because it hurts my head when I try to.

FYR Macedonia will mess up the staging, finish 11th place in the semi, get very disappointed and withdraw and then take a long break from eurovision

Here are the current approximate odds ‘to qualify’, converted to probabilities: 95% Bulgaria 80% Denmark 80% Hungary 75% Romania 75% Israel 70% Estonia 65% Serbia 65% Norway 60% Switzerland 60% Netherlands 55% FYR Macedonia 55% Belarus 50% Austria 50% Ireland 40% Crotia 25% Malta 15% Lithuania 10% San Marino These percentages add up to 1025% which means they’re still a bit high. (About 1.5% percentage points per song) Only Bulgaria can be considered ‘safe’. The odds between 2nd and 15th place are much more evenly distributed than in Semi 1, making this semi more difficult to predict. Semi 2 has… Read more »

Bulgaria and Hungary are far ahead in this semifinal.

3rd is Serbia basically for its diaspora + Basic Swedish record

Other than that, it’s such an open semifinal and almost any country can qualify.

I don’t see viewers sending sms for forgettable entries with no diaspora like Denmark, Switzerland or Netherlands.

Serbia will qualify, they have too many “friends” in this SF, even performing first.
I don’t see Ireland in the Final, and Denmark is at 50/50.
Croatia, Malta, San Marino and Lithuania are out. Austria got a bad position being 2nd.

Wow, did the Netherlands gain some places compared to last time? I thought they were #10 not a long time ago. I’m also really happy that Ireland is in the top 10 as well, though betting odds are not always accurate..
