Artsvik Fly With Me First Rehearsal Eurovision 2017

Last week we saw grainy footage of her planned stage show. And during her first rehearsal Armenia’s Artsvik finally showed us what it all looks like in glorious HD.

Fresh from the mind of acclaimed stage director Sacha Jean-Baptiste, the set instantly gives flashbacks to Iveta Muckuchyan and “LoveWave”, in that it’s slick, avant-garde and utterly spell binding. Purple — the colour of royalty and power — dominates. Artsvik owns the stage, queen like, commanding her two backing singers. The trio provide simple yet effective choreography. At one particularly inspired moment, they mimic a Hindu deity with some perfectly in-sync armography — fans are already branding it Bollywood voguing.

The ever evolving LED backdrop changes from smoke, to ancient symbols to swirling vistas. They harness low-tech elements too, using camera shakes to further the storytelling. As we rush towards the finale, the smoke lifts and pyro shoots from the floor. Artsvik throws open her arms, spreadeagle like, and unleashes a giant computer generated bird from within. You can’t spell Artsvik without art, and this is art!

Armenia always slays with the visuals, and 2017 isno exception. They will not only qualify but fight for the top ten, just like last year. Of course, with Russia out, Armenia is the country which had the most to lose, as traditionally the disapora and the cultural similarities have translated into 10-12 points from the televote. And let’s not forget that Georgia, Greece, Cyprus, Moldova and Belrus are bound to embrace this in a find example of history repeating. And deservingly so–Artsvik owns the stage, casts spells and tranports us in magic realm between heaven and Earth where we fly… Read more »

It’s good to see that Artsvik has embraced the Purple! 🙂

I still love how Armenia can take an average-to-poor song and then just kill it with the staging. Lovewave 2.0.

I keep thinking that Artsvik could just be the one to defeat Italy to win Eurovision

I knew it!

This song is meant to be for a live performance!
Not that it’s not a good song, but you have to see it live to appreciate it!

I like the colours, the symbolisms, the choreography, everything! And vocally she was amazing!

I wanted her to be more dark mass than this. I guess I’m just disappointed they didn’t bring the music video to the stage.

Can’t stand the song, but the performance seems like it’ll be cute. I’m glad Artsvik isn’t serving Lord Voldemort teas on stage like in the music video.

Not a fan, sorry. They could stage it better, more mystical. I also don’t get the use of pink color for this song, it doesn’t fit the song at all in my opinion. They should use some black and red colors. But I agree that it will be a qualifier at the end.

Of course they will qualify. Look at Armenia’s voting history and you’ll see that every year they get *at least* 8 points in televoting from Georgia, Greece, Cyprus, Belgium, France, Netherlands, Czech Republic, Bulgaria, (Russia and Turkey), and 5 of these countries happen to be in this semi. Let’s resign ourselves to the fact that it’s unlikely they’ll ever miss the semi again, unless the juries really kill them like they understandably did in 2011.

Good point. I mean, if they could qualify with Genealogy of all things, I would be surprised if Armenia are ever not in the final.

I expected that platform from the music video. :/ Anyways, I don’t even like the song, but it’s a qualifier I think.

Armenia did it again! Honestly, I wasn’t sure if they were going to be able to pull this one off with Artsvik, but they did! The buzz going around is that this might win the semi-final and place top 5 on the grand final.

I am so happy that Armenia did it again. Can someone give me a hint about the huge bird, is it hologram or will be appear on LED?

It doesn’t look good for Belgium with some borderline countries standing out.

It was not even a really negative comment. I just find the “standing in line waving arms” part a little… dated. 🙂
