The women competing at the Eurovision Song Contest know how to work. And a smaller handful of them know how to werk. Since March 29 beauties from all over Europe have been plucking, preening, and waxing with the hope of becoming Eurovision’s Next Top Model 2017. Established in 2009, the competition has become the premier online modelling contest for women competing at Eurovision. We’re here to let the ladies shine.
Twenty-eight women entered the House of Wiwi hoping to sashay their way into the finals of Eurovision’s Next Top Model. But the team at wiwibloggs.com can only afford 14 cans of hairspray and 14 pairs of fake eyelashes. To help us narrow the field our readers cast a total of 21,643 votes for their favourites in the semi-finals. On April 27 we cut 14 women, including a screaming Lithuanian with a fierce topknot (Victoria), a Latvian rocker with more wigs than a drag queen (Agnese) and an Icelander who loves dat bling (Svala). Tears were shed. Faux eyelashes fell.
But by April 29 we simply weren’t satisfied. Fearing that the House of Wiwi lacked a high enough beauty quotient, we staged a 24-hour flash poll to throw one of our eliminated ladies a life line. The girls campaigned on social media, posed for last-minute photo spreads and flashed their claws as they fought for the final spot. After counting 2,172 votes, Serbia’s Tijana Bogicevic rose like a phoenix, won the vote and is returning to take the competition into the stratosphere. She has shown the resolve it takes to roll with the punches and come out on top. Bishes beware.
The poll is now live and the ladies need your support. You can vote for as many women as you’d like, but you can only vote ONE time. Be sure to click the box next to each act you want to support before pressing submit. And you better think fast: This poll closes on June 1 at noon. We want to give you something to look forward to after the Eurovision glory fades.
You can scroll through all of the ladies’ promotional photos below. But remember: Beauty isn’t skin deep. Be sure to watch our red carpet interview playlist below, where you’ll get a sense of each lady’s style — and a window into her soul.
