She’s the iconic Ukrainian beauty who brought a hamster wheel to Eurovision 2014, spinning to a sixth place finish in the process. Now, Mariya Yaremchuk gives us yet more artistry with her new single “You Are Within Me”  and its accompanying music video.

Dropping in early April, the track is intense. While the opening verse could represent something from a horror film, this latest offering is actually significantly more radio friendly than Mariya’s other recent hits. In fact, it’s probably the most mainstream song we’ve heard from her since “Tick Tock“.
Discussing the new single with Ukrainian media, Mariya says “I do what comes from the heart, not from a desire to please somebody. I understand that you need to be yourself in any situation. I hope this can be an example to others.”
Filming the music video on a Bali beach over the course of two days, Mariya hoped to “reveal the power of female energy”. With her Sia-esque dancing and all that mud, she’s certainly succeeded!
The breathtaking clip was directed by celebrated filmmaker Alan Badoev, making “You Are Within Me” Mariya’s second collaboration with the director, the first being “In The Open Field“.
Going by the official storyline for the music video, the songstress enacts a “sacred ritual” in which she rises from the earth and becomes at one with water. Obvious, right?
The single has already topped the iTunes charts in Ukraine and is set to feature on Mariya’s upcoming debut album. People, get excited. Now!

Plodding song that goes nowhere, it could be better if cut in half. Nice production here and there though. Badoev does his work.
“You’re within me” – that’s… subtle.
It could be spiritual. But probably not 😛
“Don’t say dropped, Tina”
Wiwi, have you seen the music video Jamala has published for ‘I Believe in U’ (/qbAysT9s8hw) shot in Portugal? And her concert from May 12th has also been published on YouTube (/qdKhCBAHTxs).
Not top 5. She finished 6th in the 2014 Grand Final.
Regardless, I loved the hamster wheel (as well as the HOT hamster in it), but for the whole performance I was terrified that her oversized dress would get tangled in that wheel.
What a dirty girl!
I personally quite like this, visually appealing with a modern fresh contemporary sound.
i miss her
On a related note, we had Verka, Jamala, Ruslana and Zlata in this past Eurovision final, but I personally found the lack of Mariya Yaremchuk disturbing!
She performed in eurovillage
A stunning video, but to quite a sleepy song.
I like Mariya though. She should definitely return to Eurovision. 🙂
