Earlier this month Jimmie Wilson joined the long list of Americans who have sung at Eurovision. This Detroit-born singer represented San Marino together with Eurovision royal Valentina Monetta, but failed to qualify to the final. The duo ended up last with only one point in the second semi-final of the contest.
This didn’t put Jimmie down. Shortly after Eurovision, he released his debut album So Damn Beautiful. The thirteen-track album doesn’t include his Eurovision entry “Spirit of the Night”, but it has everything from disco songs to big ballads.
The title track “So Damn Beautiful” was released two months ago together with a music video. While the song still has the same feel-good vibe as “Spirit of the Night”, musically it’s closer to rock.
Other songs on the album include “VIVA Forever”, a tribute song for the Polish celeb magazine VIVA!, and the emotional ballad “The Color Red” — a song dedicated to the victims of the Paris attack in November 2015.
During his performance at Eurovision, you might have noticed Jimmie promoting his album with the album title written on his shirt.
Right after the final of Eurovision 2017, San Marino’s Director General Carlo Romeo suggested that the country won’t be returning to the contest next year. While it might be the last time we see this microstate in the contest, we know that it won’t be the last we see of Jimmie Wilson!
