keep on falling

Amidst a storm of memes and some rather unsavoury comments, Spain’s Manel Navarro continues to do this thing.

The artist, who came last in this year’s Eurovision Song Contest, has handled the media storm that followed Kyiv with good humour, even mocking his own bum note, which led many to say a rooster had taken his place during the grand final.

And now, as further proof he’s here to stay and slay, he’s released his new song “Keep on falling”.

Manel Navarro “Keep on falling” (starts at 2:40)

The Catalan artist has waved farewell to the surfer vibe of his Eurovision entry and has gone for a much more mature and polished sound. He’s serving a very emotional ballad with some strings and contemporary production.

He sings about overcoming the bad moments and healing from the pain of the past. As he says: “I keep on falling, to the edge of the darkness. All I need is a spark that shows me the way”.

Naturally you could interpret this as a statement on Eurovision or Objetivo Eurovisión. But we couldn’t possibly comment.

“I have much better songs than ‘Do it for your lover'”

Manel has been heavily criticised in recent weeks over his last-place finish. He’s repeatedly explained that “Do it for your lover” isn’t his best composition, and that he wrote it before he had matured as a songwriter.

“I wrote this song when I was 15, now I’m 21. That’s a lot of time!” he says. Apparently it was his label — not him — who chose to submit that track to Eurovision.

It looks like Manel has learned one very important lesson from all of this — you’ve got to stick to your guns and perform the music that you want to perform.

Manel gets it and recently said that if he is to return to the contest, he’ll do so with a song “that’s more of my style”.

Manel Navarro — “Keep on falling” lyrics

I was told I’ll be lost,

and I was found,

Now all the pain,

Has faded somehow.

But I keep on like this,

just to see where you are (x2)

(Chorus)

But I keep on falling,

to the edge of the darkness

all I need is a spark

that shows me the way,

and all the pain that I’ve been through,

can be totally faded,

all I need is to lay down

my head into your heart.

I’m so tired,

to share all my nights

and now all my tears,

have been used up,

But I keep on like this,

just to see where you are (x2)

(Chorus)

I keep on falling,

to the edge of the darkness

all I need is a spark

that shows me the way,

And all the pain that I’ve been through,

can be totally faded,

all I need is to lay down

my head into your heart.

All I need is to lay down,

my head into your heart. (x2)

When will this infantile “net bullying” from some fans towards Manel STOP?! Really, I get EMBSARRASED by being an ESC-fan with such behavoiour…!

Rude, arrogant, childish, braindead…

Some people are still bitter because the generic , banak crappy schlager Contigo didn’t win in Spain….and let Manel pay the price. pathetic people! OK – maybe duious results in Spain…:BUT a better song won. AND NO EXCUSE for your lousy behaviour!!

I am glad Spain didn’t send another OTT dull diva ballad, with another OTT dated, calculatuated superbpring euroballad! This year was MUCH better!

Although he definitely wasn’t my favorite at the national final, Manel brought a much-needed change of pace from my point of view. As a Spaniard I was growing really tired of seeing all these diva-type acts for my country on the ESC stage – not that I don’t appreciate Ruth, Edurne or Barei’s efforts, but after 3-5 years of more of the same, it was time for something new. I hope Spain continues taking less-travelled roads in Eurovision in years to come.

I bet you are Manel himself, please stop this rant 🙂

I am not a Mirela lover, nor a diva lover for that matter, but Manel’s song was sooooooo bad! And I am still amazed that he managed to screw it up with a song that has no key changes or difficult notes whatsoever.

I am actually quite glad that he ended his career after it just started, saving us a LOT of inexcusable bad songs.

All the hatred he’s been getting is just unfair. Some people are just bitter.
I hope he will keep doing what he’s doing, he’s fantastic! 🙂

Mireslista_UK – ”you are the typical diva-hater you don’t like Mirela and Safura (both equally good) and you love singers with penis”

I start to worry for everybody that has a penis in Spain. There are other countries obsessed with female singers (Germany, Ukraine), but it looks like Spain will restart ” La Santa Inquisicion” against the male organ.

This song is the proof that every hater saying he has no talent is wrong, now eat your words. You only have to see and listen to his acoustic. ‘Keep on Falling’ is much better than ‘Do it for your lover’, this is his true style and should have sent this song to Kyiv… I’m sure he would have place in the top 15, at least.

Hope he has luck as a singer, he deserves to be known for this song and not by what he did during the Grand Final. Keep on fighting!

Yep, I recommend everyone to look up the live performance on Late Motiv with which he debuted the song. I’m convinced now that he can still salvage his career after the ESC debacle… but if it was Sony that decided to send DIFYL to the contest, maybe he should consider moving away from them.

I don’t like this song horrible, “contigo” is better I’m a fan from United Kingdom of the very talented woman Mirela and her fulgurant career. In Europe we love diva Mirela, she will sell albums like donuts, with Manel we will see haha

You should read a little bit more ’cause your vocabulary is poor. Sure you are the typical diva-hater you don’t like Mirela and Safura (both equally good) and you love singers with penis. Eurovision is more boring since people like you vote and opine.

Another native English speaker here: I’ve also never heard the word “fulgurant”. An actual english speaker wouldn’t use those types of words in everyday speech, add that to the fact that your English is barely intelligible leads us to believe that you’re not English and instead just another rabid diva-loving Spaniard. 1.) Fulgurant is never heard in everyday speech, or even in that context, and is more commonly used in Spanish as fulgurante. 2.) “song horrible”? That word order is used in Spanish, not in English. 3.) “we love diva Mirela”. Who’s “we”? 4.) Britons don’t care about divas, or… Read more »

Also, who said anything about Safura, Mireslista_UK? The fact that you would group them together, when “Drip Drop” and “Contigo” are very different songs, shows that you don’t have much respect for these “divas” that you supposedly worship by homogenising them together!

Definition of fulgurant. : flashing like lightning; also : brilliant. (Merriam Webster Dictionary) –

I have to admit it was new to me too, though. 🙂 I love “singers with penis” too, so I must be quite thick. Luckily we have the delightful Mireslista_UK to educate us all.

I’m from Spain and I love Mirela and, obviously, this Mirelista_UK is from Spain too because that English is full of mistakes that Spanish do while talking English. But I have to say that I don’t think “fulgurante” is a Spanish word that we use “a lot”. It’s barely heard here too…

I guess this is just some troll. The correct name for a Mirela fan would be “Mirelista”, and he/she couldn’t even write that properly, not to mention he/she should at least have checked a freaking Spanish-English dictionary before trying to pass off as British (it’s British, not Briton)
