Madrid's Worldpride 2017

Madrid’s Worldpride 2017 will take over the streets in less than a month. So it’s time to celebrate diversity while supporting the LGBT community with some true Spanish flavour.

At the end of June, the Spanish capital will be draped in rainbow flags in true party style. And what better way to celebrate than by bringing some Eurovision music?

Spain is one of the most progressive countries when it comes to LGBT rights. Madrid has therefore been chosen not only to host Worldpride but also the 24th Europride at the same time. This is going to be huge.

Working under the motto “Whoever you love, Madrid loves you”, they’ve managed to land some of the hottest Eurovision acts under the sun.

All the action starts on the 23rd of June and lasts until the 2nd of July. Nine days of colorful live performances and lots of fun. Count us in.

Madrid Worldpride 2017: main line-up

This year’s line-up includes five Spanish Eurovision stars: Azúcar Moreno (ESC 1990), Rosa (ESC 2002), Soraya (ESC 2009), Ruth Lorenzo (ESC 2014) and Barei (ESC 2016). Latin power united for love. Expect them to slay with some Iberian realness.

There’s more Latin fire to come. Joining the five representatives are two of this year’s Objetivo Eurovision finalists: none other than Mirela and Leklein!

Mirela recently said she’s not planning on a return to a national selection. That’s not going to stop her dancing “Contigo” with her Eurovision sisters though.

Mirela has also been busy testing her acting skills, taking part in a Netflix sketch with a number of Spainish Eurovision royalty.

There are even more acts in the line-up and Eurovision fans are really in for a treat. Swedish champion Loreen (ESC 2012) and Austria’s Queen Conchita (ESC 2014) are also set to perform during Madrid’s Worldpride.

The party will take place across five different stages: Plaza de Pedro Zerolo, Plaza del Rey, Plaza de España, Puerta del Sol & Puerta de Alcalá. Make sure to check the full program so you don’t miss a thing!

  • Puerta del Sol’s stage: Mirela will perform during Mr. Gay Pride España’s Gala (June 28 – July 1st).
  • Plaza de España’s stage: Soraya (June 29 – July 1st).
  • Puerta de Alcala’s stage: performances of Barei, Conchita Wurst, Leklein, Loreen, Rosa and Ruth Lorenzo during both EuroPride’s gala (July 1st) and Closing Ceremony event (July 2nd).

Are you excited to see the acts at this year’s Madrid Worldpride? Are any of y’all looking forward to seeing them live? Tell us in the comment section below!

It would be deliciously ironic if Loreen were to sing “we don’t need no Statements” at the WorldPride event! 😀

I wanted to buy the “This Is Love” T-Shirt but my parents told me that never, and they stopped me from it because they are homophobes

Or, they are possibly trying to protect you from a hate crime. Think about it.

Loreen and Conchita are not Spanish. They could have invite Hovi Star or many others. It’s fine, I respect Spain decision, i’ve just noticed that is only about girl power, like the title says, and it’s just fine. Peace.

Sure, they could have call any chorist as well or even the monkey from Italy this year XD… “international eurovision winners that support LGTB rights”. That reduce a lot the optionts as you may understand 😉

Manel was so good “male” representative… no wonder why they didnt call him… XDD.
It is worldpride, for god’s sake…who cares about genders!
People will want good performances and those ladies will deliver, not like Manel.

I just came here to write that. This line-up make Eurovision looks more gay to Spanish people… The fact that there isn’t any male singer there, explains why some Spanish eurofans want a diva every year.

Please, dont be so naive: there are other singers on the event… but eurovision related there are only girls. and only 2 international, the rest are spaniards. And if in the last decade spain only had female singers in eurovision + 3 idiotic male representatives… i mean just use your logic, guys. The last male spanish representatives in eurovision were jokes. And we are talking of 10 last years. Thats why there is no male representatives from Spain in the worldpride. Simple. But that doesnt means there is only female singers on the worldpride… And please, tell me about a… Read more »
