She’s the Eurovision 2012 singer best-known for her synth-pop dance entry “Be My Guest”. Now, Gaitana — our favourite Congolese-Ukrainian dance-floor diva — is kicking-off the summer with the music video for her latest single “Sontsye v Tobi” (The Sun In You).

First released back in December, this chilled R&B anthem is all about sharing the love among friends and family

Gaitana has changed up her style and adopted a more mellow tone with some added piano-flare.

The track blends Gaitana’s smooth buttery vocals with a pinch of jazz and a vibe fit for a Parisian coffee shop. “The Sun in You” may lack the catchy hook of her Eurovision 2012 entry, but it should put a smile on every fan’s face — even those suffering from severe post-Eurovision depression (PED).

Writing on Facebook, the artist sometimes known as Essami explains the meaning behind the song.

“In my life equality, kindness and honesty are the most valuable. There is not enough kindness, and there is lack of openness among our generation. We are divided and I want neighbours to become friends again, and passers-by to begin to smile at each other again. My music video is about these feelings and relationships. It is a song about how we can bring happiness to each other. Even strangers can give each other warmth, joy, and happiness.”

The newly released music video is even sweeter again. This is her first self-directed music video, demonstrating that Gaitana is a creative genius in more ways than one.

The clip features not only her adoring fans, but loved-up, heterosexual, aesthetically-pleasing couples. A tad unrealistic. But whatever. Our girl still slays!

“I really want every couple in love and close families to never part. We must appreciate, love and rejoice at every minute we can spent together, like in my video. I’m sending lots of love and happiness to everyone!”

Twelve points for working that green screen alone!

Wait until the end of the video, and you’ll see Gaitana’s hint about a brand new relationship of her own…

oh no! not ‘heterosexual couples’, how dare she use most commonly occurring relationships in her music video, while she’s at it she should throw in one person of every race as we all know that’s what Ukraine looks like down every street
