Last month he qualified for the Grand Final of Eurovision 2017 with his dreamy pop tune “Running on Air”, reaching an honourable 16th place and conquering Europe’s heart with his voice and outgoing personality.

And on Saturday, after a much-deserved break, Austria’s Nathan Trent was back in business as he performed at the Life Ball 2017 in Vienna.

Europe’s biggest charity event to help people living with HIV or AIDS  is a highlight of Vienna’s social calendar and this year was no different as the stars turned up and turned out to celebrate unity and understanding under the hashtags #knowyourstatus_lifeball and #recognizethedanger.

On a night filled with compelling performances, Nathan delivered one of his own — wowing the audience with his take on Alex Vargas’ “Higher Love”.

At the beginning of the performance, a wall appeared and divided two groups of people desperately trying to reach the other side to join their friends and loved ones. Over the course of four minutes they channelled enough love and strength to destroy the wall and find peace and unity. Mr Trent: Tear down that wall!

And they did just that while Nathan served show-stopping R&B soul realness. That is how you make an impact and raise awareness, honey! It’s a new side of Nathan for us and we are loving it.

The Life Ball has been on our radar for a few years now.

Back in 2015 the event coincided with the Eurovision fortnight, so wiwiblogger William attended the concert and afterparty, rubbing shoulders with stars like Charlize Theron, Mary J. Blige and Sean Pean while gagging over performances from Dana International, Jedward and Conchita Wurst.

You can watch some of their performances in the playlist above.

Did you like Nathan’s performance at the Life Ball 2017? Do you prefer him dropping R&B or would you rather he stick to straight up pop? Tell us everything in the comments section below!

Oh, I like what Nathan delivered. Much better than his bland Eurovision song. Something like “Higher love” would have made us very proud.

However, there should be an article about Conchita as well, who hosted the gig fabulously.

Queen Conchita hosted the whole Life Ball and this article is only about Nathan’s 3 minutes in the whole show lol. Also Nathan had an little part in the opening ceremony too.

I don’t really care about the life ball, but it’s surely is a good charity event. Also it has quiet a few conections to the eurovision and it’s community. The 2007 austrian entry was the official theme song of the event in that year.

Exactly my thought too. Possibly conquering the juries hearts but being totally and utterly ignored and pissed on, by the viewers…
